DVD2One+DVD Decrypter+Nero=Perfect Copy

Last night I made my first perfect back up DVD.

First I used DVD Decrypter to rip it to a folder on my hard drive using File Mode (making sure Merge VOB Files is unchecked).

Then I used DVD2One with the Source as the folder I decrypted to and the Destination a folder titled VIDEO_TS.

Then I used Nero version 5.5.10.7 Wizard turned off, No Multisession checked and the type of DVD selected as UDF.

Burned a copy of We Were Soldiers. Compared it to the original on my stand alone player and was truly unable to tell the difference. Possibly the audio may not have been a clear but my hearing is going bad so it is hard for me to tell.

I have never made back ups before using anything except DVDXCopy which makes 1-1 copies and nearly always uses 2 DVD+R's to make it.

I agree NERO works best for me. I can't get Record Now 4.5 to work.

Give us your stats...

Violethue,
Just wondering... what's you PC's stats, DVD burner model and what type of DVD-R's did you use..(1X, 4X??). Congrats on your success! ... I'm still having problems getting my copies to work correctly.. they always seem to jitter and get stuck around the last chapter of the movie. I just upgraded to the newest Nero, but haven't tried it yet...

Sadly, it does seem that your hearing is 'off' (welcome to the club!). The program actually copies the audio stream(s) 'as is', so there cannot be any discernible difference.

With the latest version of nero (5.5.10.7b) they say they correct a bug in DVD video mode :

"Fixed the bug which produced incompatible Video-DVDs not playable on some DVD-players".

I haven't try it yet but with previous version i was unable to play a DVD burn with nero on a Pioneer standalone player ...

I hope it wil work now ...

By the way congratulation with this awsome piece of art that's DVD2One

what media are you using ?
I had trouble in the past (about a year ago) and it was all about the wrong media.
Bad media is always getting bad at the end, so with short movies, or data, you will not notice it.

I got my Sony DRU500A at the weekend, as a newbie to DVD authoring, the process seemed a little daunting compared to CD backups. There seems to be so many different ways of ripping, re-encoding etc

BUT, I purchased DVD2ONE yesterday and made my first 2 successful backups - they work fine on my PC using POWER DVD, have yet to try on standalone system.

I used DVDDecrypter to rip, let DVD2ONE do the re-encoding, and burnt using NERO 5 (latest version).

My system is Pentium 1200Ghz, 768MB RAM, Windows XP Pro.

Ripping was a little slower than I expected - think I'm going to have to get a DVD ROM drive for ripping, to hopefully speed up that part.

Re-encoding with DVD2ONE took approx 120 minutes, and burning @ x2 took approx 1hr.

The films were 120minutes long, and I successfully burnt them to a single disc. Discs tried so far were a Sony DVD+RW, and BulkPaq x2 DVD-R.

Very impressed with the simplicity of authoring using the above tools

Good work 321!!

i have had many problems with Nero in the past.

for the last 3 months, i've been using Prassi's PrimoDVD to burn and have NEVER made a coaster.

it even sounds a nice tone when it's done, so if you're in the other room, you know it's done.

Hi,

I´m using Nero 5.5.9.14 with my DRU-500a,because with later versions I have problems burning regular CD-R´s/CD-RW´s.I choose DVD-Video,deselect joliet, drag the files from DVD2one in the VIDEO_TS folder and burn.It takes 30 min for each process,so I´m finished in 1 1/2 hrs with the complete copy.I use Intenso and Yakumo DVD-R´s purchased from Vobis at 2x Speed. My system is dual PIII/1 GHz,512MB Ram and Win2000 SP3.

VIDEO MODE

5.5.10.7b NERO

When you choose video mode and you record the movie movie will work fine until it comes near end then it stops (tested on PC and stand alone)

I didnt try UDF mode (maybe this is better....

i was gonna point that out

dvd2one is a truly great program, but we need to be able to downsize the movie and include menu's / extra's so it is a truly great 1:1 copy and program!
