DVD2One and demuxing

My main use for DVD2One is to shrink 2 DVDs of my own material onto one.

However rather than burning with the usual software I want to import it into my authoring software (Impression), tinker with it and then burn.

So I did the business with DVD2One and then demuxed the files (tried both TMPGenc and VobEdit).

In both trials the first file would import OK into Impression, but the others wouldn't.

So I tried ripping a movie. Same result. DVD2One creates 5 VOBs, but only the first one will import into Impression, the others produce an unhelpful error message saying import unsuccessful.

Obviously there is some common factor, but I can't figure it out. Can anyone help me to get DVD2One VOBs converted and into a DVD authoring package?

Any help appreciated.

Since what i read now this program rox, i also tested the trial but before buying i would like to know if this feature is going to be implemented. i guess a lot of people like to do own menues in front of their ripped movies so it would be a nice and i guess simple feature to have an option in dvd2one to demux the files directly, or ?! i mean it's just extracting them out of the vob files, should be no prob at all. what i could test now was to extract them manually with vobedit, but i got a other strange problem. When i was ready to build the dvd i made, somewhere in the middle of muxing (Impression DVD-Pro) i got a unknown error and Impression aborted. This only happens if the movie stream has GOP errors, but a stream ripped from a dvd normally has no gop errors. Something is screwing up there.

I never known of streams from vobs after the first one to Import into external programs? They do not have the file Headers.

Use vStrip and glue the vob files together, then demux them.

Use smartripper to strip(demux) the files from your hard drive, and then import the m2v and AC3's onto your authoring software. It works for me! VOBedit also works if you demux the whole title set. If you only want a part of a movie then you would have to remux the ac3 and m2v into a mpg file using TMPGEnc ,and then use the cut and merge feature in the same program, then demux the resulting file and import the m2v and ac3 into your authoring software.

Hope this helps

Does anyone know of a software that demuxes files into AVI + WAV files so they can be edited in Adobe Premiere? Thanks.

You could try DVD2AVI and AviSynth with the mpeg2dec plugin...

As i describen i know HOW to do it, but it fails, coz somehow the demuxed files have GOP erros, i use pinnacle impression pro, and i know what i do here, but this must be something dvd2one screws up. and what i meant was that you just have a simple OPTION in dvd2one that it just processes and THEN demuxes the files.

OK - I can import VOB material into my DVD authoring software if I use VobEdit and the option to demux the whole title set (if I don't do that, streams other than the first one don't have a valid header).

So I can use VobEdit and get one large stream. But there is a catch; my DVD authoring software won't accept files larger than 4 Gb and the video file is now 4.24 Gb (I'm working with ntfs and XP, but the DVD authoring software seems to have this restriction as a throwback to FAT32).

So using MPEG Tools in TMPG I remuxed, cut and demuxed. This was time consuming and introduced an audio error (which I am quite prepared to believe was my fault).

Does anyone know of a quicker and more foolproof way to cut large m2v and ac3 files?

The easiest way to demux from the vobs is to either use doitfast4u and let it automate vstrip demuxing or use vobmerge to merge all the vobs into 1 big vob and then demux as normal.... or my personal preference is to use vobesit and when you choose demux choose demux complete title set option. That last one is really the way to go.

Hi people,

I have read your posts and unfortunately i don't think i can help, however about the GOP errors in impressionDVDpro, i had them too when exporting mpeg2 from premiere 6. I downloaded the pinnacle update patches on their site and the problems are solved, maybee it works for you too?

Now here is a other problem, i'm from the netherlands and use PAL instead of NTSC. When i've burned a dvd from an IMG file made by ImpressionDVDpro and analized the video ts IFO on the dvd with decrypter the video properties turn out to be NTSC (only for this file).
Everyting else is PAL and Impression is also set to PAL.
Does anyone know how to change this in impression, and could this be the reason that my Impression dvd's hang on the first menu in PowerDVD, MediamaticsDVD and a lot of standalone players?

Hope you can help me with this.
