I have tested it...

1.
I was very impressed, seems that it works perfectly!
(so far I only had a chance to view 40 minutes of the film)
but comparing to nero and record now It seemes flawless!

2.
I don't understand your question... (please explain)

My first test was not so fine.

After DVD2One finished Copy2DVD started and asked me, if I want to search for an Update online.

I say "no" and after 20-30 minutes the DVD was burned.

But there was no AUDIO_TS folder on the DVD.

I played it in my Sony Standalone and the first parts of the movie worked well. But in one of the last chapterts the DVD-Player stopped with an Error.

I used a Verbatim-DVD an burnded with my Pioneer DVR-104 (a Sony OEM-Product in my VAIO-Computer) and the Revision 1.30.

I'm comparing it to Nero (via IMGtools 0.99 utilizing the Nero API) and so far its playability appears to be stable. I also noticed that copytoDVD creates the VIDEO_TS structure but not the AUDIO_TS structure. I don't know if this exclusion will cause a problem on some older players but I'll check it out. I also assume that dvd2one selects UDF 1.02 from copytoDVD but it is not logged into the copytodvd log. Is my assumption correct?

I have several original DVD Movies, without AUDIO_TS folders. I think there must not be one to be 100% compatible with the standart.

I'm a newbie - downloaded CopyToDVD yesterday - and tried it out last night.

All I got was a lovely shiny purple coaster that my DVD player spat back out!

Are there any options I need to manually set within CopyToDVD?

I had kind of assumed that since DVD2One launched it, it would pass the relevent burning parameters to it as well....I guess not?

What burner do you have?

I have the pioneer 105 and it does work very good!
(at least on the x1 dvd-rw I tried it on...)

I have the 104. It works "OK" with Nero (movies tend to play, but get "stuttery" towards the end).

The disc I burned yesterday was totally unreadable by my DVD player though...

2 things I don't like with CopyToDVD

1.) It doesn't create a AUDIO_TS folder

2.) but even worse it uses up 100% CPU on my Pentium 4 2Ghz system, while Nero uses up around 0% - 4%

There's something fishy about the CopyToDVD CPU usage ....

at the moment we don't find any incompatible dvd writer for copytodvd... in the case of the dvd movie burning, be sure to use the write dvd video menu option in the copytocd/Dvd manager and nothing else. Or let the burn done by dvd2one

My fist attempt was a failure... Made a nice coster...

What i did, was just load the program, drag the video_ts and audio_ts directories into the work space, and the wrote it...

What the program did, was make a data disc instead of a dvd movie disk...

so...

on my second attempt, i used the option write dvd-video... and..... it woked... no problems, except the audio_ts dir. was missing...

it even worked in my Xbox... coool......

yes you have to use the menu , otherwise, you have to set UDF+ISO in the settings.

you can create a audio_ts folder before.. we will try to put an update to create one if missing.

I think that...

the AUTIO_TS folder isn't needed for proper playback...

I have read in various forums and reports that some DVD players require an empty AUDIO_TS folder to be present.

Therefore I would have thought it a good idea to include an empty AUDIO_TS folder to ensure highest compatibility. It's not like it takes up much space!

Is this a DVD2One problem, as it provides the content for CopyToDVD to write? A quick test of whether you can manually create an empty AUDIO_TS folder with CopyToDVD would answer this question.

LAPINOU: If indeed it is a CopyToDVD problem, how soon can we expect an update to correct it?

I don't want to create any more DVD's without AUDIO_TS just in case, so I don't want to register CopyToDVD until I know this problem has been fixed!.

How much CPU %

How much CPU % does CopyToDVD use up on your system? On mine its 100 %, very odd. What are your experiences?

SCHURKI:

I have not looked at CPU usage, as I tend to leave the PC alone whenever writing discs to avoid any possibility of buffer underruns.

ALL:

I have posted the following message to Erwin:

"I have read in various forums and reports that some DVD players require an empty AUDIO_TS folder to be present.

Over on the forum, lapinou (Blindwrite Team Member) seems to have indicated that you can create an AUDIO_TS folder before writing with CopyToDVD (in an earlier post above).

Therefore, can we assume the problem of the missing empty AUDIO_TS folder is a DVD2One issue?

If so, how soon can we expect an update to fix this little (but crucial) problem with CopyToDVD integration?"

If you have a player that has to have an audio_ts folder to work you can put one in the folder that holds the video_ts folder as copytodvd just asks for the folder that has your video_ts in at when going to burn. just make sure it is caps also. I just tested this and results are dvd with both audio_ts and video_ts on it

we will try to add the audio_ts folder at least in the front end.

about the 100% cpu time , it doesn't take really 100% time, as you can test yourself , you don't suffer to do any other job ( even it is more secure to let a dvd be burnt quietly )

it will be fixed in a future release.

LAPINOU:

I have a reply from Erwin in response to the message I emailed him (and posted above), regarding the creation of the empty AUDIO_TS folder.

With regard to creating the empty AUDIO_TS folder, Erwin states:

"CopyToDVD has to do this, I only hand over the processed files."

"You will have to contact VSO on this."

So, lapinou, how soon could we expect a CopyToDVD update to resolve this DVD2One integration issue?

As I explained to Erwin, developer of the engine is on hollydays, I can't update it easily before he's back ( several weeks )

but .. I can handle kind of patch from the copytocd/dvd manager.. which will be released sooner.

of course , you can create audio_ts manually and use the dvd writing option from the menu too, I am aware it is not veryu convenient, but we didn't now the audio_ts ( even empty ) was required for some dvd home player.

LAPINOU:

Based on your positive response (which leads me to believe that the problem will eventually be fixed properly, when your developer returns), I have now just completed registering your software.

I look forward to future developments and improvements!

Thanks.

DVD2one/ CopyToDVD Integration Request

To DVD2one and CopyToDVD developers:

(1) Since CopyToDVD automatically creates the VIDEO_TS folder then it should only be a minor mod to create the AUDIO_TS folder. (My source folder only contains the ifo and vob files so I know that copytodvd creates the VIDEO_TS folder). This is a CopyToDVD issue.

(2) To further automate the process it would also be more convenient if there was an option in DVD2one besides the Burn files to CopyToDVD to select your burner and pass it to CopyToDVD. This is mostly a DVD2one issue but it also is a CopyToDVD API issue.

These mods would allow a hands off compression and burn. All in all, this is an terrific combo that would be even better with a few refinements. Keep up the good work!

About the update question you can go into settings and turn off automatic updates if you want. I just changed mine to check every 14 days and no longer get the question at burn.
