confirmed harmless bug Greetings. Sorry to report this here, but the server is down and didn't know what to do. The "bug" is confirmed on two movies: Back to the future 2 and Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. Both PAL. The VTS ifo is transformed from Pal to ...NTSC and the aspect ratio from 16:9 is turned to 4:3. Self explanatory ifoedit pictures here: Original :http://users.otenet.gr/~prplasma/Cyb...thoriginal.GIF Copy:http://users.otenet.gr/~prplasma/Cyber/wrathDVD.GIF As you can see, it's easily fixable with IFOedit, and even if left as is, it does not have any effect on the playback. But, it MIGHT have something to do with the pulsating-shimmering bug, many have reported. I cannot notice such things on my "backups" , but you never know. Keep up the good work ![]()

Yes that's indeed a bug, but it only affects the menu data not the video data. Some standalones do read the menu data instead of the movie data en therefor display things in a non correct way. Last edited by ReneB; 04-02-2003 at 20:16.

3 things: 1) I have checked 5 PAL DVDs and thay are ALL NTSC now, so it seems it changes almost every APL to NTSC. 2) Another thing is it changes the MPEG flag from MPEG2 to MPEG1 3) And finally if you have subs on a 16;9 movie that has been changed into 4:3 it is almost unwatchable cause the subs are still in 16:9 and changing the aspect ratio with IFOedit doesn't do a thing to that. Movies tested: James Bond's the world is not enough. (but most james bond's DVDs are wrongly Authored) The godfather I II and III Jurasic Park I Resident Evil

On Widescreen TV Since the current dvd2one changes the aspect ration from 16:9 to 4:3 does this mean that since I have a 16:9 widescreen tv that when I play the dvd copy made from dvd2one that the aspect ratio will not be correct since the standalone dvd player reads the ifo as a 4:3 movie?

I edited my above post a bit, but if you look closely you will see it the MENU data that has been changed. And not the MOVIE data. Altough like mention above some hardware players ignore the movie part and just set the output to what ever the menu is in. But since DVD2one get's rid of any form of MENU it's a bit weird that the movie is affected! But then again, some hardware players are know to do more weird stuff.
