Can't solve pause problems - need help

I'm working with DVD2ONE and I’ve tried to burn XXX and Black Hawk Down and in both movies i have the pause problem, always in the last 25 min of the movie.
The 1st the movie (XXX) actually stuck after chapter 17 and then I’ve tried IFOedit (as suggested) to fix the layer change and now the movie won't stuck but it pause several times in a min...(Pauses are appx for 1/2 a sec)

The pauses are happing in my stand alone DVD player (LG DM-4941P 5 disc changer) as well with others DVD players that my friends has.

Is there any other way to fix the movie and prevent it from pausing? (Using IFOedit or any other software)

I’m using Stomp Record Max 4.5 and Nero 5.5.10.0
maybe something had to do with the UDF?

P.S It’s not the media because I’ve burned few movies with DXC and they worked fine, and also movies that are less then 4.7 GB worked fine.

When You Created The new IFO's with IFOEdit, Did
You make sure it did NOT create a new PGC for each VOB ID?

This will cause a pause problem as the player hits each Program
Chain...

Seamless branched titles, cause major problems with some players, it will pause at every new vob-id, look at it in ifoedit, if it's something like 1/1-1/20 or something, your o.k. but if you've got something like

1/1
2/1
2/2
3/1
4/1

You will notice these correspnd to the points were your movie pauses. I'm still trying to find a way around this. Some players don't have any trouble with this others do.

It's pretty simple to take vob files from DVD2One and
de-multiplex them and Author them with IFOEdit.

I can explain if needed.

@ samsung27f
I haven't experienced any problems whatsoever with that kind of movies, tried those with several players though. Are those movies done with dvd2one, because the ones i did, i did with ifoedit in the past.

@ kobimz1
The layer change problem i also encounter, but what happens next i don't.
The pauses, when do they occur? right from the beginning or from chapter 17 ??

Mike, if you can post the de-multiplex info i'd appreciate it. I am talking about the VOB-ID's, open you VTS 1 IFO, it will show all the chapter breaks, cell id's, and then V/C this is in the VOB ID and chapter number, you will also see up top the VOB-IDs that are used, (i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) most movies only use two vob-ids 1 and another number and will go like this 3/1 thru 3/25, and the last being 1/1, these play without pause problems if you remove the layer break. Seamless branched and some newer movies use a lot of VOB-IDs, and if you right down the time the movie pauses and look at the ifo you will see that they correspond, if there is a way of eliminating the multiple vob-ids, and just have 1 or 2 you shouldn't have problems, please note I'm still working this. So DVD2one needs to improve on layer breaks and seamless branching (multiple vob-ids). This is the problem that causes pauses as far as I'm concerned. I'll post more info to explain this if folks need it.

@samsung27f

If you could write up a quick Info on what people should look
for in movies that will cause pause problems, I will
throw together instructions on demultiplexing and importing
into IFOEdit.

I know what you meant, do you have a dvd title so i can also take a look.
I've done quite some movies in the past (i own a lot of discs) but never encountered problems like this. The only problems were with non sequential discs, like "end of days" (region 2) but these are done nicely by dvd2one.

As soon as I get home I'll put something together. Regarding V/C (VOB ID's) causing pause problems.

I’m not going to post the information about the VOB ID problem just the solution to it, I discovered after 2 hours of messing with it.

Here’s the solution to pauses:

First rip the movie using file mode from DVD Decryptor, it should rip the movie VOBS and associated IFO.

Open IFO Edit, and then open the associated IFO, (you pick it from where you ripped the DVD) if your movie was VTS_02_1.VOB etc… you would open VTS_02_0.IFO.

Now the part that sucks, you need to rebuild the IFO by stripping the streams, seamless branching or different VOB-IDs will cause pauses if not properly configured in the original IFO.

So click on VOB Extras, only check Correct Vob-Unit, Correct Original IFOs, and create new IFO files,
VOB Expert options, should be left alone, (all are checked except for Remove IIvu/angle point.)

Now click on Remove Seamless Branch, pick the PGC you want to keep (usually the 1 with most chapters is the main movie), Pick the destination, hit strip it on strip streams (don’t mess with the checks), sit back and wait it will make all a new set of vobs staring with 1 and ifo files.

Hit get vts sectors, quit IFO edit,

Run DVD2ONE.

Burn, Problems with pausing are now gone. I’ve got some work to do, as soon as I get back at the end of the week I’ll try to detail it more. Sorry for the typing and messy errors. I got the abyss to run with no pauses on my toshiba SD-3800 so far, after watching the parts where it paused before.

The above works with seamlessly branched.

For others it is the angle, (just above the check for seamless braching).
