Since I posted that method a few months ago on Doom9 forum, someone replied with:
____________________________________________________

You have four TitleSets with
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_02_1.VOB, VTS_02_0.IFO, VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_03_1.VOB, VTS_03_0.IFO, VTS_03_0.BUP
VTS_04_1.VOB, VTS_04_0.IFO, VTS_04_0.BUP

Delete the existing VIDEO_TS.IFO // VIDEO_TS.BUP

Run DVDToolBox.
Source = Path to the TitleSet folder.
Click Create Video Manager ( VIDEO_TS.IFO ).
Close DVDToolBox.

Run IfoEdit0.95
Open VTS_01_0.IFO > VTS_PGCITI > VTS_PGC_1 and scroll down to There is no PGC Comand Table
Right click and choose Add Postcommand.
Right click on 1.Post Command > Edit Command
Command: (CallSS_VMGM) Call VideoManager PGC
PGC Nr: 2 (go VTS_02_1.VOB)
Resume Cell: 1
Save VTS_01_0.IFO

Open VTS_02_0.IFO > VTS_PGCITI > VTS_PGC_1 and scroll down to There is no PGC Comand Table
Right click and choose Add Postcommand
Right click on 1.Post Command > Edit Command
Command: (CallSS_VMGM) Call VideoManager PGC
PGC Nr: 3 (go VTS_03_1.VOB)
Resume Cell: 1
Save VTS_02_0.IFO
...

And so on.

I've been using it ever since... works great.

Hello dvdmanDAVE:

Every once in a while, I backup two dvds into one disc. I am using your old method, and have seen your updated screen, it looks good, but the same question still remains:
In your "new" version, would I have the opportunity to type the name of the films being backed up?

Thanks

No, totonho03, the menu is set into a VOB file...
The graphics and sound encoded/designed therein...

I truly am not a wiz at this, not at all...
When I get the "wild hair" to do something different
I try hard at it, either I get it, or I don't...

When I do, If I ever, actually figure out what it is that I do
"right" (correct), and can map it out for others, I will...

Untill then, enjoy what I share...okay?

One file is a RAR, and the other is a self-extracting executable.

and here are the updated instructions:

UPDATED (May 11, 2003)

WARNING: Do not attempt to put two movies on one
DVDR if either movie is much more than 100 minutes
long. The video quality will degrade appreciably.

Step one: Extract the contents of this archive to an
empty (new) directory.

Step two: Use your favorite decrypter to copy MOVIE files
to your HDD (use separate directories for each movie),
include the movie's ifo file. Get vts sectors with IFOedit.

Step three: Run DVD2ONE on each movie, selecting ONLY
one audio stream and outputting to another empty directory.
(If you select more than one audio stream you WILL degrade
the VIDEO quality) Set the output size to 2048.

Step four: DELETE VIDEO_TS files in each new DVD2ONE
directory, and rename the remaining files - MOVIE ONE to
VTS_02*, and MOVIE TWO to VTS_03*...

Step five: COPY (or move, if you're brave) the DVD2ONE
processed (and renamed) files to the directory created in
step one.

Step six: Open the IFO's in the step one folder with IFOedit,
and get vts sectors.

Step seven: Test your creation with a software DVD player,
opening the VIDEO_TS file.

Step eight: If the test is successful, BURN IT! If not post what
happened here:

dvdmanDAVE <<<< is the password to open the rar file

Hi Dave,
I have 3 questions:
1/ How to get vts sector with IFO edit. I'm newbie so I don't understand what is it?
2/ I downloaded the files both old and new, both winrar and exe from your website, but couldn't extract it with password: "dvdmanDAVE", it says wrong password.
3/ Will this method allow me to keep the subtitle?

Many thanks

Edit: I could extract the old file, but still can't with the new one. Still get error: wrong password. In the mean time, I'm using DVD SHRINK v3 beta 5 to extract movies to my hard drive. Please advise. Thanks

Hi, Totonho03

In another thead, you wrote:

<<This is the way I do it, and it works for me:

1.- Create 3 folders for the back up
2.- In one of them, in this example let's call it folder Dave, place dvdmanDAVE's command. Execute it.
3.- Use either dvd2one, or dvdshrink to compress the films to fit one dvd. Each movie in its own folder
4.- Run IFO edit and load your first movie and run get VTS. Once this is performed, close ifo edit, and open the folder where you placed movie 1. Change the VOB 1_O to 2_0, 1_1 to 2_1, etc. and move the vob files only, not the video_ts files, to the folder where you have executed dvdmanDAVE's file. (Folder Dave)
5.- Run IFO edit on movie two, Change the 1_0 to 3_0, 1_1 to 3_1 etc. Move the vob files only, not the video_ts files, to the folder where you have executed dvdmanDAVE's file.
6.- Open IFO edit load the files of folder Dave, and run Get VTS, and that is it. What I do next is to I burn it with Nero.

Believe me, it works, and once you get the hang of it you will see how easy it is to run.

Hope this helps

Totonho03>>>

Step 4, Run IFO edit, click Open, choose VTS_01_0, click GET VTS SECTORS. I done that and followed all your steps. Move the VOB files to Dave folder. Question: do not move the VIDEO_TS.VOB in both movies folders to Dave folder, is it correct?

After step 6, I want to use DVD SHRINK to compress DAVE folder so it can fit on one dvd, however, it couldn/t see the movie file.
I tried dvd2one also but it said VTS_02_0.IFO is missing. What is wrong could you please help?

Thank you very much!!

Good for you rabit. I was about to answer your post, but I can see that you are already working with Dave's prograam. Very neat eh?
DVD2one can also compile 2 movies (They call it join), but in my case, and with my set up, Dave's ,ethod is faster. Using d2o's joint function it takes me almost twice than if I were to compile the movies individually.

Enjoy

Totonho03

Do not know what you mean by subtittle......Is it something new? Are you referring to the movies's subtittle?

Re: 2 movies on one DVDR

1st of all i will say, the program to put 2 movies onto 1 dvdr, absolutely brilliant when u stick to the rules

now the main part
if the quality of 2 movies at 100 mins plus is not going to be very good, what is the quality of 3 movies going to be like, even if u use the method of 100 mins and less, i get the feeling it's not going to be the best.
the best thing to do will be to check it after u have dropped the size thru dvd2one, and see if its worth it, taking into account that u will have to reduce the size to about 1.4 gig per movie

the warning from dvdmandave

WARNING: Do not attempt to put two movies on one
DVDR if either movie is much more than 100 minutes
long. The video quality will degrade appreciably.

Re: 2 movies on one DVDR

Why not use the JOIN-mode (non-seamless) in DVD2one to resize the two movies to fit on a DVD.
After this you can use your favourite DVD author proggie to make a simple menu.

Re: 2 movies on one DVDR

In practice, I have found that you can only squeeze the video data "so much" before the quality degrades too much. Generally the "blocks" appear during "cloudy" or "fades" type scenes. I am working on finding a solution for - what we are doing, HQ BACK-UPS - of our movies. Bear with me, RL sometimes needs attention...

dvdmanDAVE

P.S. I did finish the 3-movie menu, but a hard-drive upgrade "crash" prevents me from sharing it right now. I do have a friend for whom it was made that has a copy, and as soon as I can get it, I'll post it.

Re: 2 movies on one DVDR

Hi,
I don't know if you guys have ever tried the DVD Shrink and DVD-Lab (sometimes I use IFO Editor as well as the others) method, but it seems to work just fine for me.
DVD -Lab Link = http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/

I shrink the DVDs to 2.2 Gig with DVD Shrink.

I Create a Menu in DVD-Lab, and Import the VOB's and IFO's into DVD Lab as well.

I then create the links to the Menu's (From my Created menu, to the True menu's of the DVD's)

I then Make The Movie.

Then I burn with Nero.

Works Great!

Re: 2 movies on one DVDR

These days, even dual layer DVD recordable disks are available and 16x-capable media are sold for reasonable prices.

The real problem for me is how to stuff 20GB HD files to one 4.7GB DVD disk without having to spend too much time encoding them using MPEG-4 or DivX or WMV codec.

I know that perhaps I am somewhat "prejudiced" regarding my menus, but, if you want what looks like 4:1 compression, you're wishing in one hand and pouring water onto the other. The result: 2 empty hands, and one that is wet.

DVDSHRINK's DA (deep analysis) works okay....but not to the extent that it appears what you want. I have yet to try running 2 passes with it to see the result. (WHY? I only have an 800 mhz processor...Time vs. Result - a consideration...)

I think more discussion, and tests (trials) are in order...

As noted in a newly posted post in this thread, more "TESTS" would be/are welcome...

I have had good result with DA ( DVDSHRINK), on one pass, curious about a 2nd pass...

Re: 2 movies on one DVDR

the way i do it is to use nero recode to encode both movies into mpeg-4 at 2000mb, then i use nerovision to put both movies on and make menu, and as it is mpeg-4 subtitles and even other languages can be kept and still work, you lose the special features of each movie but considering that to get good quality you would have to lose them anyway this isnt a big problem.
