1 Source/1 Dest. Disk?

Will placing your source folder & destination folder on separate hard drives quicken DVD2One processing time?(assuming of course that both drives would be of comparable speed). I am currently placing both on the same drive & am getting slower transcoding times than some...Life As A House...rip 14min...DVD2One 50min...burn 35min.

Of course it will speed up the process. You will be reading from 1 writing to another instead of reading and writing to the same hardrive.

They have to be physically diff drives and not a partition on a drive.

This save a lot of time and a lot of money.

If you use the same HD the heads are working with stress and the life of your HD will down.

buy another HD, even is a small one save you a lot of problems

Note that this may only be effective if those two harddisks are on seperate ports of the controller. The bus seems to be saturated if they are on the same.
I tried the 2-harddisk approach, but saw no significant speed-up (both HDs hanging on the same IDE port). I haven't had the time to swap ports around...

Concerning the wear on the mechanics, I doubt that it has too much of a negative effect. Provided you don't transcode 24/7... but that's just my opinion.
