Infodisc 12x burned at 12x

Drive: LTR-52246S, 6S07 , 700MB image
This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = HSCD-RW, Phase Change
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 25s 30f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 73f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = Memorex,InfoDisc
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 12X

Sold as Memorex HS 12x 700MB
This disc was checked initially, and again after about 20 cycles of 700MB burn and erase, using both full and quick erase options in Nero. The disc checks "0" errors in CDSpeed, so I opted to use WSES. Full-speed read.
This is the test run after the 20 burn cycles, It is not remarkably different than the initial test.

Infodisc US 24x burned at 16x

Drive: LTR-52246S, 6S0C 700 MB image file,
SmartBurn doesn't know who made this media:
This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = HSCD-RW, Phase Change
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 25s 31f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = Unknown
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 24X

Both Nero and CDRIdentifier recognise it thusly:

CDR Identifier:
ATIP: 97m 25s 31f
Disc Manufacturer: InfoDisc Technology Co., Ltd.
Reflective layer: Phase change
Media type: CD-ReWritable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

Several members have reported problems with this media. I finally got hold of some, and now I see why there are problems.
Started by burning a fresh disc at 16x, remember this is CLV on the liteOn drive:

This media performs no better than much of the Highspeed media that is around, and worse than many. CDSpeed shows numerous C2 errors, peaking at several hundred near the end. WSES shows much the same thing as CD Dr.

I would not recommend that this media be used for anything important. It may get by for every day short-term transfers of non-critical data, but considering the excellent performance of the Verbatim 24x media, the extra 50MB of space hardly seems worth the risk.

Infodisc US 24x burned at 16x

Lite-On LDW-401S, ES0G, 698MB SVCD

Disc Type = ULTRA SPEED CD-RW 24X
Lead In = 97:25:31
Lead Out = 79:59:74
Nominal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f/LBA:359849)
Manufacturer Maybe = Infodisc Technology Co., Ltd.
Smart-Burn Speed Limit = Wrt(24X),Rd(32X)

Sold as Memorex Ultra Speed 16-24x 80 minute

This is about the best burn I've been able to get with this media--there seems always to be a surge in C2 errors towards the end of the disc, which causes SVCD playback to stutter. Burning at 24x produces worse results, at least on my burner.

Should you be so unlucky as to be stuck with this media, be sure to do a full erase before trying to write anything to the disc--before I did that, I would get several unreadable sectors in a burn.

Infodisc 12x burned at 10x

Lite-ON LDW-401S, ES0G, 698MB SVCD

Disc Type = HIGH SPEED CD-RW
Lead In = 97:25:30
Lead Out = 79:59:73
Nominal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 73f/LBA:359848)
Manufacturer Maybe = Infodisc Technology Co., Ltd.
Smart-Burn Speed Limit = Wrt(10X),Rd(32X)

Sold as Memorex 12x 80 minute CD-RW

If you need 80-minute CD-RWs (as I do), these are a much better bet than the Ultra Speed discs, though slower to write.

The two C2 spikes seem to be a firmware bug like the single spike in older Lite-ON CD-RW drives, and not indicative of actual burn problems.

Burned at 10x on the Lite-On. Crap media; I decided to scan it after getting CRC errors and failed verifications in Neo. Bought at Staples -- I'm surprised a major brand is selling media this useless. Scan to follow burned in my NEC 2500A.

Re: Infodisc CDRW

OMFG.
Labeled as Esperanza Ultra Speed CD-RW.
Ultracrap - there were 87 errors during the scan (what explains the gap in C1 and C2 graphs).
The CD is not readable by both of my drives - the LTR-52327S reports "UNRECOVERED READ ERROR (031100)", and SOHW-1693S "L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR (031105)".

24x (Ultra Speed) Memorex-branded Infodisc CD-RW burned at 16x

79:22.61 audio CD. Burned at 16x with HP dvd840i, firmware HPD5 (stock firmware).
Code:
 Disc type: : CD-RW
 Manufacturer: : Infodisc
 MID : 97m25s30f
Sold as Memorex Ultra Speed CD-RW (24x), 5pk w/ slim jewel cases.
This scan is from the 3rd time the disk was burned. These disks usually produced a readable burn the first time they were used. Later burns typically had areas that were unreadable. Any readable data on them would become unreadable after being left alone for a while (less than 2 months).

Scanned with Lite-On CD-RW SOHR-5239V 2$0E.

This scan is from the 1st time the disk was burned. These aren't much better than the ultra speed version.

This scan is from the 15th time the disk was burned. These are much better than their high speed and ultra speed disks, but they still aren't the most durable CD-RW around.

This scan is from the disk's 8th burn. This media seems to perform much better when burned at 2x... which isn't very helpful since I only have one drive that supports 2x burning, not to mention how slow it is.

This is probably only the 4th or 5th write, at most. I wrote to the discs twice, found that they would skip upon playback, found that they scanned horribly, and threw the others away. This one managed to escape the trash bin. I will keep it for future testing.

To be a CD media scanned by a MediaTek DVDRW drive, this is a baaaad result. I would hate to see the result on a real CD scanner.
