Can't burn reliably at 4x (can't be read from playstation 2, some problems playing back on pc) Burning is a little bit more reliable at 2x (but not much). This is from a burned disc at 2x, read with 8 ECC from 451S. Last edited by calaca; 06-02-2004 at 03:13. |

Read back OK on all my DVD players. For a "junk" manufacturer this isn't such a bad result. EDIT: here's also a scan at 4x, 8ECC on LiteOn 451s.... I think the extra spike is due to a scratch the disc has acquired since the 166 scan ![]() Last edited by jase; 05-03-2004 at 20:45. |

| Re: Yi Jhan DVD-R Just bought a spindle of 50 DVD Matrix labeled for about 8$ (9.99$ canadian $). Burned a copy of The Green Mile movie at 8X using a Pionner DVR-108 with a hacked firmware . I am able to play the movie in my PS2 and in my JVC dvd player. Anyway I just bought those because I was curious to see how it is possible to make DVD so cheap(less than 17 cents a piece), I still got a couple of DVD-R 4X princo and an unopened Maxell DVD+R 4X. |

| Re: Yi Jhan DVD-R I just bought 200 YiJhan003 disks for $30 delivered. These were advertised as 8x DVD-R media, and after some testing and experimenting, I am getting fairly good results with these disks. I tried using my Benq 1640 and 1620 drives, and then my Liteon 1693s. The Benq 1640 with Solidburn on and Overspeed on starts at 4x, goes to 6x, and then drops back to 4x for the rest of the burn. The results are good, but slow. The Liteon 1693 does not have a match for this mediaid, so by default burns the discs at 4x. I experiment with several different strategy swaps, and found the TYG02 strategy to give the best results. The transfer rate test does not look as good as the quality scan, but the movie still plays back just fine. |
