Scan done on a Liteon 451 @ 832S with firmware VS01 (code's release)
(Yeah... this did work, but I wouldn't try burning anything)
*Why this was done? The current specifications for the Liteon drive
models 401/411/811/451/851 show that they can read dual layer discs, but
this was NOT the case with this media. Only the 832S VS01 firmware
allowed my drive to read the disc. Seeing as how the firmware allowed the read, this hardware should have NO issues and we need to get on Lite-on
to upgrade their current firmwares to allow better double layer media reads!

I didn't do this scan, helped a friend do the 812 -> 832 and
had him KProbe it on the same drive.
Played fine on his standalones, no skipping / glitches.
Bitsetting was enabled to set this to DVD-ROM format.
Edited because I forgot the picture... heh

Mitsubishi DVD+R DL burned 2.4x rated 2.4x

Sold as Verbatim Dual layer solutions pack. Burned 2.4x 812s@832s VS0A. Write quality kind of sucked with this firmware, it seems VS04 is giving better results for dual layer, next disc I get I will try that instead. This was LOTR - Return Of The King with 8125mb and booktype dvd-rom. Plays back perfect except for one chapter right after the layer break in my JVC TH-M505 home theater dvd changer. PS2 can't get past layer break, and my 832s, 811s, 5232k, and Toshiba SD-R1002 drives have trouble reading the disc. I get read error on a reading curve in dvdspeed so it aborts.

@karr: could You release the source code of KProbe2 under a GPL compliant license to adapt it to LINUX, or release at least some interface specs to create a wrapper for WINE ?

thx, woppr.

Mcc DL +R F9 with LG GSA-4163B

Recorded with LG GSA-4163B A104.

The quality is good considering the fact that this is DL.

Verbatim branded Mitsubishi 2.4x DVD+R DL burned at 4x

NEC ND-3500AG 2.TC , 7858 MB burned to disc

Used NEC 3500 Firmware 2.TC and scanned with a LiteOn 16P9S.
I have read that DVD-ROMs are not the best scanners, but it's all that I got.

Verbatim branded Mitsubishi 2.4x DVD+R DL burned at 2.4x

NEC ND-3500AG 2.TC , 8043 MB burned to disc

Used NEC 3500 Firmware 2.TC and scanned with a LiteOn 16P9S.
I have read that DVD-ROMs are not the best scanners, but it's all that I got.

I am also including another one - Sin City - this time done at 2.4x for comparison. It looks like the 2.4x burn is inferior to the 4x burn above.

Re: Mitsubishi DVD+R DL

Media ID: MKM001
Sold as Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4X
Burned with DVDDecrypter 3.5.4.0 at 2.4X with BenQ 1620
Using firmware B7V9

Plays well on the computer and in my dvd player. I'm a little disappointed in the spikes near the end, but overall not terrible.

Re: Mitsubishi DVD+R DL

Verbatim DL +R MKM001 burnt at 4x on NEC 3500AG Liggy and Dee's firmware 2.TG
Looks pretty good to me... better result than my 2.4x burns. Anyone has any idea why?? (not that I'm arguing or anything)
Looks like I will stick with the 4x burns for the time being. Too bad the 3500 doesnt burn DL faster than 4x.
