The World Is Not Enough Missing Menu Hi: After ripping with DvdDecrypter (ripped files play OK) neither CloneDVD nor CloneDVD2 succeed with copying TWINE because of a "missing menu VOB file". Only by unchecking "preserve menus" can a copy be produced. It appears that there is an "extra" segment embedded in the VIDEO_TS.VOB (124MB) which is causing the problem. The debug log file is reproduced here: I 21:10:08 Processing started D Layer break removed at 1 locations I 21:10:08 Successfully removed layer break D TCEngineConfig: D inputPath: C:/Rip The World Is Not Enough/VIDEO_TS D outputPath: C:/Temp TWINE Full Clonedvd2 Sneak Preview 43percent/VIDEO_TS D replacementVOBsPath: C:/PROGRAM FILES/ELABORATE BYTES/CLONEDVD2SNEAKPREVIEW/eraser D CloneConfig: D targetVOBBlocks: 2288777 D TitleConfig: D title: 1 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000001 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 2 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000001 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 3 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000001 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 4 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000001 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 5 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000001 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 6 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000001 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 7 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000001 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 8 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000000 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 9 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000000 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D TitleConfig: D title: 10 D angle: 1 D streams.audio: 00000000 D streams.subpicture: 00000000000000000000000000000000 D firstPlay: 0 D menus: 1 D remux: 0 D noStreams: 0 D tcArgs: D samples: 5 D stats: 0 D scanOnly: 0 D pictureExtraction: 1 D DVDCompilerConfig: D ecc: 0 E 21:10:08 Processing stopped: missing menu VOB file VIDEO_TS.VOB (VobSet 9 0 1 62912 63213 62912 TCE) Is this a known problem with TWINE (can't find it in a search of forum, and have had no problem with any other title)? I'm not going to buy another original TWINE just to check if it is this particular original at fault, but it has no problem playing on several settops and dvd-roms, so I assume it is this peculiar menu structure which is the problem for CloneDVD. This is my first post (sorry for the length) so I will take the opportunity of thanking all those contributors who have saved me from reinventing the wheel many times over the last six months, but this is one I can't work out! ![]()

Thanks - unfortunately, I had previously installed AnyDVD trial version but stopped using it when one of the updates started to give me BSOD's - that's why I use DVDDecrypter now (no problems with that). Because I already had used trial version I can't reinstall AnyDVD (says my trial has expired) - I don't want to buy it just for this movie and risk more blue screens. I'll assume TWINE is an anomaly - at least I can backup the main movie and extras as long as I don't preserve menus (although that makes it a pain to navigate!!) CloneDVD has never given me any other problems since I bought it last August and I think it is an amazing product, well worth (twice) the price (just like CloneCD, which I also bought from Elby well over a year ago, and the Slysoft version happily accepted my registration key)!! Thanks again for your reply, and keep up the good work!

Hi Olli - I tried AnyDVD 3.6.1.1 (gave me a new 21 day trial) but copy still doesn't work - here's what happened: AnyDVD enabled: CloneDVD2 Release v.2.0.4.1: Title Configuration Screen - Preview Window shows black screen saying: D:/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.VOB: file not found Press Next and Audio & Subtitle Settings screen appears with all the streams displayed, but quality bar is greyed out - CloneDVD HANGS at this point (after a minute, so does AnyDVD - both show [Not responding] and have to end-task with both. CloneDVD2 Sneak Preview v.1.8.2.4: Exactly the same sequence (including hang of both programs) CloneDVD v.1.3.12.1: same info on preview screen, but gets as far as final screen Creating DVD Files. Error dialog box pops up = Error creating DVD files: Error message = Creation of DVD files was not successful Scheduler 0 D:/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.VOB: file not found TCE - was able to exit normally from program. I d/led the latest version of DVDShrink (3.1.7.6) and it worked, and CloneDVD2 burned the output files OK (all parts of the Shrunk DVD copy work).

Hi profcolli I have the same dvd region 1 bought in Canada. I used anydvd (V3.6.1.1) and CloneDVD2(V2.0.4.1). It copied successfully with no problems. Could it be the dvd itself. I recently bought a "new" dvd from futureshop. Everytime I tried to back it up it would hang about 40% into the read. When I took the original and played it there was no problems. I exchanged for a new copy, now theres no problem backing it up. Because your dvd is "used" we don't know how well people treated it while renting it from blockbuster. Are you allowed to return it and get another copy of it, either new or used?? I know the feeling when you run into a problem. Trying to determine whats at fault. Good luck

Olli - I don't have an ISBN on the DVD (these previously viewed DVD's don't come in the original packaging). The DVD disc shows Design Copyright 2000 MGM Home Entertainment Inc. (the movie itself is 1999 but the DVD was released in 2000). On the DVD is (just outside the inner ring on the front) "WIDESCREEN 908130 128MINS U.S. PG-13 CAN. PG/DP" and (on the inner ring itself) "LV 908130V2.1B VB02" and "IFPI L907". Imprinted on the rear (on the inner ring on the back) is: "LV 908130V2.1A VA02" "IFPI L906". Can you confirm if this is the same DVD, if so I will try to return it for another one (they had several copies for sale). Vicmonster: Thanks for your input - sounds like it might be the disc which is the problem - there are indeed signs of wear and tear.... You're right - I've been tearing my hair out over this even though I got a good copy from DVDShrink and the original plays fine on PC and set-top players - I guess I'm being anal over trying to get it to work with CloneDVD, partly because I've never had a single problem with it otherwise and I want to keep the record at 100% ![]()

Although CloneDVD2 has a much relaxed error handling, there seems to be some room for improvement... ![]()
