Weak sound with copied DVD? Hi all, I have been using CloneDVD and AnyDVD for quite some time now and was wondering if ANY sort of compression can weaken the sound intensity on the final copied DVD? I have a prime example after doing a backup of Master and Commander. The cannon blasts with my 4 12" subwoofers have a real solid kick to them on the original disk but with my backup it seems to be lacking that same kick ? The intensity is just not the same. Its still loud but not AS loud or impressive. Anyone else notice this? I cant remember if the copy was compressed when i did it as it was quite some time ago. I just burnt it onto a single layer Verbatim DVD-R with nothing but the main movie and DD 5.1 soundtrack. Any ideas? Thanks, Tim.

Re: Weak sound with copied DVD? Nope. Audio tracks are exactly the same. It shows up on my AV receiver in big words "DOLBY DIGITAL" If it was 2ch audio it would say "PRO LOGIC" and if it was dts then of course it would say "DTS" But i can confirm that the DD soundtrack on the original disk has more punch than the DD soundtrack on the cloned disk. No idea why, it just is ??? Any other possible cause? Thanks.

Re: Weak sound with copied DVD? I keep a backup of Master and Commander in my theater for demo purposes. There is no difference in the sound quality of the backup from the original. I use this disc to show off my system. BTW - Four 12" subs seems like you may be defeating the purpose. With subs, more is not better. They will cancel each other out. Not that this will make one copy sound better than another, just some good information to know...

Re: Weak sound with copied DVD? I'm with Tru on this one... CloneDVD does NOT touch the audio tracks in any way. There is no compression or molestation of the audio at all...a straight duplication. It's easy enough to tell what's on the copy, though...just load it into CloneDVD and let it tell you what kind of audio tracks it finds. For the record, there is indeed AC3/2 on some movies...that is NOT pro logic and will show up as Dolby Digital on your receiver. Just a thought.

| Re: Weak sound with copied DVD? @ timoxx4 Neither AnyDVD nor CloneDVD modifies, compresses or alters the DVD audio streams in any way. Your “Weak sound with copied DVD” problem is not caused by the AnyDVD-CloneDVD software program combination. Quote:
