CloneDVD Discuss, Strange problem with compatability at Copy Movie forum; I have just recently purchased a Digital Research dvd+rw/+r, model#ddvdrw4. When I got the box home and opened, I had a letter stating that they have upgraded the unit to + and - at no charge. When using ANYDVD 1.6.2.3 and Clone DVD 1.2.8.

Strange problem with compatability

I have just recently purchased a Digital Research dvd+rw/+r, model#ddvdrw4. When I got the box home and opened, I had a letter stating that they have upgraded the unit to + and - at no charge. When using ANYDVD 1.6.2.3 and Clone DVD 1.2.8.4 I can make a backup using a dvd+rw and it works fine in my apex ad-500w, but when i use a dvd+r, it is not recognized in dvd burner or apex ad500w. I have checked on dvdhelp and it states that the apex ad500w is compatible with all formats. The media I am using is fujifilm.does anyone know what the problem is?

thanks, les

both dvd+r and dvd+rw media are fujifilm. why would one work and not the other. should i try a different dvd+r media?

Hi there, it's not really a CloneDVD issue - would you like me to move the thread to the media forum or recording hardware forum? You may get answers there.

Not sure, could be a rebaged Pioneer DVR-106 with this weird CloneDVD +R problem.

I have currently no idea what is going on there or why... My suggestion would be - use -R media instead (Pioneer, beeing a -R advocat, is probably better writing -R anyway) until this problem is clearly identified and resolved.

I tested a 106 a few weeks back. It ate both formats of Verbatim without a hitch in Nero and CloneDVD

so your saying that this could be a rebadged pioneer a06? anyway, i never could get clone dvd to work on dvd+r media. I did use clone dvd to make a iso image of the main movie. Then I went and used dvd decrypter to burn the iso. and it works perfectly. I would like to know if there is anyway to get clone dvd to everything.

thanks, lreid

This probably doesn't help you any, but I've used CloneDVD + AnyDVD successfully with DVD+R with a number of different movie dvds and media.

I dont think this is a CloneDVD problem. More likely a firmware issue if it is a Pioneer a06.
Try different brand of dvd-media.
Or maybe hope that a newer firmware is on the way...
