Ready to Explode!!

First, I am only minimually literate in cloning DVDs (and spelling).

I have a decrypter and CloneDVD V1.1.6.1. I use a DVD+R disk 1X2.4X 4.7GB. My burner is a new (2 months ago) Sony dual layer.

The problem: All but one of the DVDs I have copied will pause for anywhere from a one second blip to long pauses and then restart having skipped what was shown during the pause period.

Other factors: When I play the cloned DVD on my player (low end APEX AD-1600) this happens.

Sometimes when I put the cloned DVD into a laptop (Toshiba Satellite about 3 years old) the DVD won't even show up.

If I try to play the cloned DVD on the new Sony burner (in a 3+ year old PC) it plays OK without any pauses.

I'm thinking maybe my DVD player doesn't have the features to smooth out the blips nor my older DVD player in the Toshiba.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. And please remember, I'm not really literate in a lot of the technical language here.

Thanks.

Re: Ready to Explode!!

Firstly what is the media code of the media that you are using? Using something like DVD Identifier to find out. These problems are usually down to crappy media.

Do you have the latest firmware installed for your burner? What is it's model number?

To get you toshiba DVD-Rom to read the discs you will have to bitset the disc type to DVD-ROM - most older toshiba laptop drive will not read +R.

A lot of Sony drives are made by lite-on and if your is one of them you can get firmware and auto bitsetting tools from here - http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83441

Re: Ready to Explode!!

You have a very old copy of clonedvd, goto www.slysoft.com and update it (you may have to swap your serial no. for a key).

Buy media more suited to your burner, ie; 8x/16x

Alot of older (or new low-end) computers have trouble playing DVDs, especially DVD+/-R. Make sure your computers have at least 1Gig of RAM and a fast (i.e., 1GHz+) CPU and close ALL other applications when playing DVDs (as they sometimes require quite alot of processor power). I would also recommend trying the latest version of WinDVD playback software as this has worked on a couple of laptops when other playback software failed (with problems similar to those you described).

Finally, I would recommend (as others have) that you upgrade to the current versions of your software and burner firmware.
