Reads fine but burns bad

Hi Guys.
It has been a while since the last time i needed help with burning issus.
I am use to burn dvd films with " CloneDvd2" and "AnyDvd", without problems.
But now it seems that maybe my burner is getting behind or maybe the protections are getting tougher.

I got a "Liteon LH-20A1S", witch has been working fine until now.
There is no problem in reading the dvd to the clonedvd temporary directory.
But when i try to burn to the discs it sometimes, stop in the middle and tells me something has gone wrong and the disc maybe isn't good enough for burning.
Its the same type of discs i always uses "Q-Daq 1-8X 4,7GB +R"
I am usually burning at speed 6x, to be sure nothing goes wrong.

Sometimes it works just by trying again with a fresh disc from the bunch.

The movies witch are getting the error is:
Spiderman 3
Hoodwinked
Asterix movies
flushed away
and especially disney special edition movies.

Other movies are working fine like:
the mask
lilo and stich
treasure-planet
simpson the movie
sharks tale
anastasia

Got any suggestion? i was thinking maybe buying a new burner. the one i got now is about half a year old.

Thanks in advance
Frede

Re: Reads fine but burns bad

The quality of your discs is highly suspect. I recommend using Tys or Verbatims. Your burner may or may not be on the fritz and until you use known quality media, you won't know.

Re: Reads fine but burns bad

what you failed to mention is what version of Anydvd, CloneDVD, or CloneCD version your using to help us identify what if any version is causing your problem. And what specs is your system as well? And if you installed any recent program or changes to your sytem? Also what current O/S are you using?

Re: Reads fine but burns bad

Quote:
Version 2.9.1.7 2008 04 09
New: CloneDVD no longer uses the Windows filesystem, when reading from a Video DVD. It has now its own UDF parser / reader. Discs which cannot be read by Windows can now be copied with CloneDVD.
Just to check, go into your preferences, and check the setting: "Use File System instead of Internal I/O"

I had a problem where all the DVDs I was backing up since that update, were getting gaps in them and not playing all the way through (seemed to burn fine but when playing it would hit a gap like I mentioned above and stopped playing).

Not exactly like the problem you are having, but I wouldnt be surprised if the new UDF parser/reader they switched to is causing more problems then just what I was having.

If changing this works, good deal, if not, just keep posting here and I'm sure someone else can help resolve it eventually.

EDIT: Hmmmm...you tried burning with nero too and it didnt work? Not sure what to tell ya, the problem I was having (before I got it fixed), I was able to burn fine w/ Nero.
