| Read Error TCSectorReader TCE Can anyone tell me what the above error message means? I've only gotten on 2 DVDs I've tied to back up so far out of about 20 or so but I'm not sure why I get it. I'm assuming there's just somethign ont he DVD that is making it unreadable for whatever reason but is there anything I can to do get around it? It always happens in the initial part where it's reading in the VOB files. Thanks. |

| MadBob, your link goes nowhere... ...and the FAQ is useless for that specific error. I have seen it under CloneDVD (with AnyDVD) and under DVDXCopy. Question - if the DVD is scratched, is there *any* way to work around it? I mean, DVD players don't have a problem with it, so isn't there a way to just tell the copying program to just ignore all read errors? I've been burning CD-Rs since the 2x days, but I just got my DVD-R drive yesterday ($40, 4x+-, thanks techbargains.com)... -keith |

| Links to searches are broken after 4 or 5 days. The FAQ specifically mentions that error. If you are ripping an ex-rental or second hand disc (ripping a rental may infringe the copyright laws in your country), the disc is damaged in some way - a scratch or smudge are the usual suspects. If it's a new disc, it's hosed (waxed, damaged, whatever) - it's happened to me. Take it back for exchange. >Nobody has successfully gotten around that error? Yes, lots of us, by cleaning the disc, accepting irrepairable damage or exchanging the disc. If DVD Decrypter, with fine and gross error control, can't do it, then it can't be done. >DVD players don't have a problem with it ... Playing and ripping are two different things.

Error Creating DVD Files If this occurs in CDVD2, I'd switch to DVDShrink and it's worked flawlessly so far. | |

| Re: Read Error TCSectorReader TCE This sounds silly but this worked for me. Check the disc for smudges or scratches. I pulled the disc out and sure enough there were some smudges on the bottom side of it. I cleaned it up, popped it back into the drive and it worked flawlessly. No more TCSectorReader Error Btw: I think why madbob had one drive work and the other not was because some drives handle dirt, smudges and scratches better. (ie: better laser, hardware, etc.) some drives are just better at coping with bad discs. At any rate make sure your discs are clean folks and happy ripping. |

| Re: Read Error TCSectorReader TCE I know there is a thread here somewhere that will cover this, but... try this, copy the video folder from the movie cd onto your hard drive and then burn the folder using CDVD2.. Worked for me.. |
