Today 1 DVD went to garbage after burning with Nero 8.2.8.0 . This last time i did got an error and i've saved the long log file :

Re: Problems burning Spaceballs

In the log I can see two main problems: the DMA is disabled and you are using low quality discs.

Try to enable DMA (see link in my signature) and use better discs like Verbatim for example

This should solve.

Re: Problems burning Spaceballs

Probably your media, either compress to fit on high quality DVD5 like TY or Verbatim,or only use Verbatim DL+r media for DVD9 burning. I hope this solves your problem funny movie

I had one of those drives on an older Toshiba laptop and it never worked right, no matter what media I used, but that could just have been my bad luck.

Re: Problems burning Spaceballs

geno888: i'm going to try to enable DMA, but about the discs, i've been using Memorex and RiDisc double layer discs, and this is the first time i'm having problems! It's curious... because the first 2 discs freeze at the sametime when playing in my homevideo. But it's possible...
Newbie question: where can you see in the log that media isn't good?

coolcolors: this happened with cloneDvd and Nero, so i got confused where to post it...

alan1476: i haven't had any problems with CD/DVD burning, besides this one, and another one: burning EAC files to CD and listening them in my home stereo with noise (!?)

It's not the log that says that the disc is not good, but the quality test done with a proper burner and cd-dvd speed. With this test is possible to measure the amount of errors on the burned disc.

Based also on many users experience here in the forum, until now only Verbatim proved to produce reliable dual layer discs.

When the amount of errors is too high on a burned disc, it's very frequent that a standalone player is not able to read the disc and the playback is stuttering

Re: Problems burning Spaceballs

Usually i use Verbatim (of 1 layer) hmmm, and my future cakes will again be Verbatim .
Edit: the store don't usually have Verbatim, what do you think about Datawrite (DL 8x White Printable Pack 25, Yellow 4,7 [-R], Classic 4,7[+R])?
Something says that i'm going to buy Verbatim in another store...

Re: Problems burning Spaceballs

Too bad only Verbatim media proved to be reliable discs. All other Dl disce have a very variable quality from rather decent to ugly. Datawrite are among the ugliest discs available
