Hi all

I have purchased Clone CD and Clone DVD - legitimate keys from Slysoft.

Clone CD works fine.

For some reason I originally had a problem with a demo version of Clone DVD and the key now won't work on this. I have got it to work on another computer but the one with my DVD writer it won't work on. I have tried various methods of deleting but no success.

Does anyone know how I can fully delete the previous download so that I can start again with another demo download and be able to use my key?

Delete CloneDVD using it's own removal tool - (Start/All Programs/Elaborate Bytes/Uninstall) - reboot, then make sure you have the latest version - reinstall - reboot straight away, then apply your key. If that doesn't work - post back.

Thanks for the suggestion - I've just tried it but it doesn't work. The key won't work and the re-installed demo software just says the demo period has expired.

Presumably the problem is that the demo software doesn't allow itself to be fully deleted to prevent people just repeatedly dwonloading it and never buying a key. However I do have a key! I've had a string of e-mails from Slysoft whih hasn't solved the problem so I'm trying here. Is there a backdoor way to delete the demo software adn allow me to start again from scratch - I'm sure the key will work then as it has on my other computer.

Yes, there are "backdoor" ways and I'm very very sure that Slysoft/Elby is well aware of them. I will not post any of them because of DC Freaks rules. You were not very specific as to what Slysoft told you to do in their emails. Please don't respond to me as I've already mentioned - I won't/can't help.

I think that they (Slysoft) should at least offer to send your money back (if they didn't).

It may be a bad key, im sure this has happened before, email them and ask for another key to be sent out.
try uninstalling (do noy keep registry info)-reboot use a registry scanner (registry mechanic) to get rid of the crap in there, reboot-reinstall-reboot and use your key

Well they didn't offer to re-imburse me at all - in fact they stopped replying to my mails. I got part of my money back by complaining to my credit card company.

Before they stopped replying to my mails, they sent me various keys but none worked.

However I'm stuck with a non-functioning, non-registrable version of Clone-DVD. Are there any bulletin boards without restrictions to discuss these problems?

Olli, the author of clonedvd used to frequent these boards, but i've not seen him on here lately, very good for advice & tips.

have you tried- start-all programs-elaborate bytes-clonedvd2-register clonedvd2, browse to where you have saved your key-open-ok.

Also have a read of these posts, it shows problems with some keys.

Ah! If you refunded your purchase (you received your money), all the keys you have are automatically disabled. They will not work, and they are not supposed to work.

Sure. Why should it work, if you haven't paid for it?

They didn't refund my money - they just stopped helping - I got a percentage back from the credit card company (less than half of the money I paid to Slysoft) but I'm worse off than I would be if I'd never paid them anything in the first place. I actually want the software - was quite happy to pay for it - did pay for it - spent fruitless hours trying to get it to work and trying to get help from Slysoft. Now I can't get it to work even if I paid again as I have this useless demo-version blocking everything.

I don't see any reason to feel sorry for Slysoft - I asked them to send me a version that worked by e-mail or a version on disc but they didn't respond. This has been going on for about four months.

Hi - fianlly got it to work although I'm not sure what did it - I spent £30 on registry mechanic which didn't appear to make any difference then fiddled about with the properties on the key of Clone DVD as recommended in a post above - and Hey Presto.

did you not use the trial it may have helped, it'll cleaned up your registry for a start.
sp2 may have the problem

will you be sending back the money you got from your credit card company

as your keys will be blacklisted now, may have to reorder, you may have been to quick to get a refund, as its now working

you have only been on here with this problem for over 1 day, sometimes these things take a litter longer to work out

Have you tried uninstalling, rebooting, installing then doing your key, then rebooting?

Hi pakratus, it was the properties of the key that was not letting him register it, i remembered a thread by Kamakazie that sounded like this problem and gave him the link for it, so, it's working for now.....!
