| Problem with CloneDVD "writer not capable of writing the source data" Hi, I've been using CloneDVD and AnyDVD for quite some time with good results. However, I recently replaced my PC with one that has a dual layer burner in it. Now when I attempt to back up a movie to a dual layer DVD, even though it initially reports that it can copy with 100% quality, after reading the original DVD to temporary storage on the hard drive, it says "This writer is not capable of writing the source data as requested." The "details" show the message "Write DVD 14W2". I have "DVD+/-R DL" selected as the media type. I've also tried cutting the amount of material being copied in half, but I still get this message. I should add that the first time I tried to copy the DVD, and attempted to copy the entire thing, the error message indicated that the writer was not capable of writing that much data. Any suggestions how to address this would be very much appreciated. |

| Re: Problem with CloneDVD "writer not capable of writing the source data" I have almost the same issue except I my error message says: Writing to video media was not successful: source data too large; This writer is not capable of writing the source data as requested. This error has been around for me for as long as I've used CloneDVD2. What I've done to bypass it is use Nero, but now, unfortunately, Nero no longer works. What I get now is a DL disc that skips. All I can guess is that the companies have changed the way they are producing their media...Anyway I suppose what I want to ask is should I just go out and purchase a burner that doesn't give me this error. Because its basically telling me in this error that its my burner. I also dont want to change software either because I am very happy using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. If someone could help out with this issue that would be great. |

| Re: Problem with CloneDVD "writer not capable of writing the source data" Cmurder - There are a couple of possibilities that could be causing your problem. Two of these possible causes are the use poor quality DL DVD Media and/or old outdated DVD Burner Firmware. Other possibility is that on the CloneDVD “Title Configuration” page your selected “DVD+/- R DL” target size but then you mistakenly inserted a blank “DVD-5” disk in your DVD Burner. Searching the Forum you will find that Verbatim DL Media is the preferred blank DL DVD Media to use for error free DL backups. Below is information concerning DVD Media -> http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm If your DVD Burner doesn’t have the most up to date current Firmware which contains the MID (Manufacture ID & Media Code) of the blank DVD Media you are attempting to burn your DVD Burner will not correctly recognized the DVD Media and generate Error Messages similar to what you have described. Below is information concerning DVD Burner Firmware -> http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,11...1/article.html My suggestions for quality error free DVD backups is only use 1st Class blank DVD Media and ensure that your DVD Burner has the most current up to date Firmware. | Re: Problem with CloneDVD "writer not capable of writing the source data" I've used Verbatem for 95% of my titles and my firmware for my samsung DVD burner is the latest I have been able to find. If you can help me find the best firmware for it that would be awesome but I'm just about to the ends of my rope. I've wasting almost entire spindles just trying to back up 3 of my newer movies that I DESERVE to have back-up copies of. I have a Samsung TS-H552 SN: TS-H552U Firmware Version US07 |
