is there a new encryption format, i tried anydvd and dvd decypter on a newly released movie and the first 3 chapters kept coming out with digital squares (tried 4 times 2 different readers and both decryption software). no luck

At the same time? why? dvd decrypter doesn't need anydvd, maybe that's the problem. Try using only dvddecrypter.

not at the same time, separately to see if there was an error with one of them, but got the same results with either one i used, 1st 3 chapters had digital squares.....

The Movie industry put their bollocks in a vice when they designed CSS encryption, if they want to alter it, every DVD player in the world will have to be scrapped and re-bought.

try the DVD in another reader if you can.

1. used sony 510 with clonedvd/anydvd
2. used sony 510 with clonedvd/dvd decryptor
3. memorex combo drive with clonedvd/anydvd
4. memorex combo drive with clonedvd/dvd decryptor

I will now commit sacrilege and try a different copying program since i only have 2 different readers

I have been copying movies since before Nov and have never had a problem until now and again, it's just the first 3 chapters of the movie!

I'll be dam if DVD Shrink didn't do the trick..., guess I'll have to keep it on the side for emergencys.

the "digital squares" u're seeing is macroblocking, which happens when u try to compress the video beyond what the transcoder can handle.

But aren't the digital blocks apearing before the transcoding?

macroblocking....even though i got it to work, thanks for the reply. Just cause something works, it's still good to know why it works or doesn't work for future reference. I can't express how much i appreciate u all for this forum. It is a fabulous source for learnign to both experienced and beginners. KUDOS and thank you.
