" Invalid block start code" clonedvd

Hi,
I'm using CloneDVD2 2.4.5.4 and AnyDVD 4.0.4.1 and while reading Spiderman I get the message: "Creation of DVD files was not successful. Invalid block start code. One ore more blocks might be corrupted by a prior copying process or by the source device covering critical read errors.Try copying the video files to your harddrive (again) and retry."

Does this mean the dvd is unreadable and how do I copy the files to my harddrive with clonedvd? (dvd on standalone works fine). Burned other dvd's without problem.

Re: " Invalid block start code" clonedvd

In Output Method:
1. Select: DVD files.
2. Uncheck: Delete Temporary Video Files after Writing.
3. Choose a temporary directory for video files.
4. Go!
/DVD files are copied to your HDD in the selected directory and you can check the movie with PowerDVD/.

When the DVD files are done:
1. Choose: Writing existing Data.
2. Enter the path of the DVD files.
3. Go!

Actually it is the best way to copy a movie. This way you can check the DVD files with PowerDVD for instance. If they are ok, you can burn the existing data.

Re: " Invalid block start code" clonedvd

Alex,

I tried as you mentioned but no luck. At 67% the message pops up! Tried it a few times but it stops at 67% everytime.
Detail copied: "PS 10 VOBU 4 1596286 233 Clone 6 TCE". Maybe the sector is unreadable?...

Greetings

Copied the dvd to the hdd with DVD Decryptor with success BUT reading this files with CloneDVD gives the same error at 67%.
How can DVD decryptor read the files without a problem then??

Re: " Invalid block start code" clonedvd

I see now. There are some movies that make Mr. Murphy wake up and embitter your life. It happened to me just some weeks ago. I tried all my software, all the possible criss-cross use of them.

Please, give it a try with DVDShrink (set to burn with nero). You can download the software here:

www.dvdshrink.org (Free software)
http://www.ahead.de/en/nero-prog.php (Demo version)

If it does not work, some cdfreaks tried AnyDVD with DVDShrink, it might be an another possibility.

It might be that the DVD is defective or scratched.

Re: " Invalid block start code" clonedvd

The Invalid block code is CloneDVD's way of telling you that the movie is a Dual-Layer movie. It CANNOT be copied with CloneDVD. To copy this movie successfullly, you must have a DVD burner that can READ/WRITE Dual Layer format!!

use DVD Decrypter to put the movie on your harddrive **This MUST be done with a DVD Drive that can READ Dual Layer DVDs**

Now use your favorite DVD burning software, to burn it to a DVD **The files MUST be written with a DVD drive that can WRITE Dual Layer DVD's on a BLANK DUAL LAYER DVD! and the Burn software must be capable of Dual Layer burn process** (Nero seems to work okay here, it burns D/L and wont look for a copyrite protection when burning files already on the HardDrive.

Have Fun

Mmm - you do know that this thread is a year and a half old? All DVD-Roms read duel layer discs (DVD-9). CloneDVD2 will take a duel layer disc and 'compress' it to fit on a single layer disc (DVD-5) - that is the whole point of CloneDVD2!!

@ DriveFast,

Welcome to the Forum.

Forum Members are welcome to provide assistance to other Forum Members but it is prudent to ensure the information you provide is correct and factual.

I believe you should use the Forum magic “Search” button and conduct research concerning the capabilities of CloneDVD and AnyDVD software program before making erroneous statements concerning CloneDVD and AnyDVD software programs.

Most Commercial DVD Movie Titles are DVD-9 Dual Layer and the CloneDVD software program is specifically designed to process DVD-9 Dual Layer Commercial DVD Movie Title and does an excellent job of making backup copies of these Commercial DVD Movie Titles.

All DVD Burners and DVD-ROMs devices can read “Read” DVD-9 dual layer Commercial DVD Movie Titles. You only need a DVD-9 Dual Layer DVD “Write” capable DVD Burner if you desire to make a backup copy of a DVD-9 Dual Layer Commercial DVD Movie Title on blank DVD-9 Dual Layer DVD Media.

Best Regards,
bjkg

DriveFast,
Please allow me to pay you the compliment of being perfectly blunt. The information contained in your post ... well ... what can I say(?) ... what a pile of horse manure ...!

You are nine days late for an April fools day joke and one and a half years late on posting to this thread!

Interesting first post...

Correct ... or split the movie onto two disks OR burn it to a dual layer disk.
