Different compression levels for different titles?

I just broke down and I'm trying out CloneDVD after having problems getting DVDShrink and AnyDVD to work together on The Brothers Grimm.

Now, this might be a stupid question, but I just couldn't see anything in the docs. Can I set the title sets with the extras (deleted scenes, featurettes, etc) to be a higher compression level than the main movie, the way you can in DVD Shrink? I like including the extras, but only if I can heavily compress them so that they don't affect the main movie's bitrate that much.

I dont think that is possible - ive only had CloneDVD for about a week... but I would definatly like to see this option put in there (if not already available)

Re: Different compression levels for different titles?

unfortunately, that's not possible with clonedvd. that's one dvd shrink's MAIN advantages over other compression software (aside from it being free!)

for me it's always a balancing act between the precision of the compression and the retention of the menus. I end up using CloneDVD 9 times out of 10 because I like keeping menus even after I cut things out which isn't possible in DVD Shrink.

Thanks, I guess that means I'll probably stick with DVD Shrink, unless I just keep running into more and more DVDs where it has issues with the protection. Clone DVD's speed does seem to be a nice improvement, at least.

DVD Shrink can almost do that; you can set a title to be a still image, which takes up very little space (especially if you use the simplest image you can find). They still take up a little space (more and more space the longer that title was) so it's not ideal, but it's close to cutting it out completely.

Re: Different compression levels for different titles?

yeah...you're right.

I was in the same position as you for a while. I wasn't really interested in buying and learning a new program because I loved DVD Shrink, but I found that the ease of use and compatibility between clonedvd and anydvd not to mention the unmatched support was well worth it.

and I even converted to a clonedvd freak haha. I still use dvd shrink sometimes, but clonedvd has pretty much replaced it in my book, and the situation you brought up is one of very few arguments against clonedvd and is the most valid and irksome one in my opinion!
