CloneDVD2 won't burn DVD I am able to rip a DVD to my hardrive without a problem, but when I insert a blank DVD and click on "write", everything seems fine for about 4-5 minutes, and then I hear a voice say "OH NO" and a window pops up with the following: "Writing to media was not successful. Media Write Error. A write error occurred, probably caused by bad media, please replace and try again" When I click on DETAILS it says this: "WriteDVD 10 11 W2". When I take out the DVD I see that it has been partially written on. What does this all mean & how can I correct it. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but this problem began after I upgraded to the recent version of AnyDVD 5.4.4.1 Prior to that I had no trouble at all with copying DVDs. The blank DVDs I'm using are Memorex DVD-R ,16X, 4.7GB, 120 min. I've been using this all along without trouble until now, so I don't see how the media can be the blame. Please help. Thanks.

Re: CloneDVD2 won't burn DVD Memorex blanks are the #1 reason for bad backups. PERIOD. Do a cdfreaks search for "Memorex" and you will read for yourself. I think the success of their distribution network is an MPAA plot. Don't rack your brain trying to figure out why they worked before. Dump the junk and buy a quality brand of DVD blanks Best regards Whisperer

Re: CloneDVD2 won't burn DVD Is Sony a good brand of DVD to use? I would have thought that Memorex was a good brand because they had a good reputation years ago with cassette tapes. I still have success with Memorex when I use DVDshrink3.2 to burn DVDs but for some reason CloneDVD2 will no longer accept them. Thank you very much for the advice. I won't waste my money on Memorex again.

Re: CloneDVD2 won't burn DVD Hard to believe DVDshrink3.2 burns them because it's most likely a media quality problem. Or a burner or firmware problem which is less likely your problem. I'm gonna first assume you got a common and infamous "bad batch" of memorex's. Try again with shrink from the same spindle of memorex blanks. In my experience neither CloneDVD nor AnyDVD have ever been the reason for any of my backup problems. My Pioneer AO5, AO9 and 110 burners love Sony 8X DVD-R disks. Don't remember ever seeing a negative post about them. Just as important as burner compatibility is standalone player compatibility. The Sony backup disks play well on all my players ( JVC, Sampo, Sony, and a K-Mart no-name ... and my new Saturn "Relay" 7-Passenger Van! ). Post your burner model and people who own the same will comfirm what it likes for media. Last edited by Whisperer1; 26-09-2005 at 10:51.

Re: CloneDVD2 won't burn DVD Cool ... you're done then. You should be able to take a certain pleasure in throwing those memorex disks in the trash. Don't give them your money again! Someone should start a class action suit against them. I agree, they are running on their pre-digital reputation for quality analog recording media. They don't make anything themselves anymore. They just farm out their manufacturing to the cheapest bidder!

Re: CloneDVD2 won't burn DVD I'll use up the Memorex with DVDshrink3.2 because it accepts them without a problem for some reason. I still have a pack of 40 left, so I don't want to toss them if I don't have to, but after they're gone I'll never buy them again. DVDshrink3.2 seems to record anything. There have been times I had trouble ripping a movie to my hardrive with CloneDVD2 due to a "redundancy check", but DVDshrink ripped the same movie without trouble. CloneDVD rarely gives me problems, but when it does, DVDshrink takes care of it. I have never had DVDshrink reject or be unable to copy a movie for any reason so far. It accepts what CloneDVD won't, for some reason. I hope it stays that way.

Re: CloneDVD2 won't burn DVD Just one last "downer" for you. There have been posts to the effect that memorex disks won't play ("no disk" error) in a player a year or so down the line. in other words, they stop working. less than a perfect backup ya?
