CloneDVD2 error

When one is creating a backup of a DVD movie, an error is encountered that states that the destination dvd+R/DL ran out of room. However, while CloneDVD2 is compiling the disk (and has sensed a DVD +R/DL in the drive, it accurately shows that the backup will fit). No compression needs to take place, but at the end of the burn, an error results, stating that the destination DVD didn't have enough space??

Any ideas? Running Windows ME, with a Pac Digital DVD burner on +R/DL.

Please help.

What brand of DVD+R DL disc are you using to burn the compilation?

Uwdawg -

Your problem sounds very similar to many postings made by others that where using poor quality DL Media. Many people recommend using quality Verbatim DL Media to correct this problem.

Before making such a broad statement, you should ask what brand of DVD media is being used. Verbatim isn't the only manufacturer of high quality CD/DVD storage media. My personal experience has been extremely good with Memorex and HP's disk media (CD, DVD, DL-DVD). But then I don't use CloneDVD 2 for my DVD purposes.

brands mean absolutely nothing when it comes to dvd media. tell us the media codes you've had good luck with and that will have more credence. chances are those "memorex" dvds you had a successful backup with were ritek which means you were VERY lucky.

just because something works for one person doesn't mean that it isn't overall a poor media choice.

Re: CloneDVD2 error

An excellent research source for DL DVD Media is the CD Freaks Blank Media Forum (http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=33).

Performing a CD Freaks Forum Search on Memorex and HP brand DL DVD Media reveals that the quality, performance, and reliability of Memorex and HP brand DL DVD Media is less than desirable.
