CloneDVD Trial - Functionality?

Hi all,

I'm benchmarking CloneDVD v. 2.8.5.1 against other programs (e.g., DVD95), and I'd like to know if the CloneDVD trial copies an entire movie or if it does only a portion. There is no specific info on this on their website, while other manufacturers (e.g., DVD95) state on their website that the trial for their program will only copy 25% of the original movie.

So, for my benchmark, when I compare final file sizes (with no compressions), I'd like to clarify if that size represents a whole movie or a fraction of it.

Thanks,

Roberto

The trial version of elby CloneDVD2 is not restricted at all. It performs exactly as the registered version, because otherwise you cannot evaluate it completely. Never buy a program, which you cannot fully evaluate. These programs are very often pretty bad. Evaluation version does "only copy 25% of the original movie", what a joke!

Re: CloneDVD Trial - Functionality?

I'll attest to that. CloneDVD trial is completely fair and an excellent way to judge the value for yourself. I use CloneDVD on every back up I do, including ones that I ultimately recompress rather than transcode(really big movies that I'm adament about putting on a DVD+R SL). I use it to preprocess the disc and remove a bunch of crap I don't want like trailers, audio, etc. I've never had a problem with CloneDVD. You won't regret the purchase at all.

@rgpg
Like to mention that Slysoft has a promotion going for a 10.00 discount if you buy the any CloneDVD, AnyDVD, and CloneCD software. The offer has been out a while and expires 11/15/05 so you still have time to evaluate the progarms and get the price reduction, it's a great value for what your getting.
I suggest you get the CloneDVD and AnyDVD package that comes at a reduced rate and the additional 10.00 discount.

Read about it here:

Thanks for the info. Now that you mention AnyDVD: if I'm backing up a movie DVD that is not protected, does it hurt the final quality if AnyDVD is turned on? Likewise, if I'm backing up a movie DVD that is protected with Any DVD off, will CloneDVD tell me the DVD is protected and abort, or will it still back it up but with missing/scrambled/messed up audio and video?

Thanks again,

Roberto

Re: CloneDVD Trial - Functionality?

If the movie is not protected in anyway, AnyDVD will not do anything to the quality of the backup.

If the movie is protected (just about all commercial DVD's) and you don't have AnyDVD working CloneDVD2 will not even attempt to make a backup.

I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 and have not yet came accros a movie that it will not backup. (unless you count the one faulty disc that I bought!!)

It will not do anything harmful to the "quality" of the backup, even if the move is protected.
