CloneDVD: movie skips and freez in player after burning Hello, this is a wonderful forum and I read a lot of threads the last few days. My problem is not new and there are many postings in the forum but I can not find a complete solution. After burning with CloneDVD (1.3.11.2) I have always (in different standalone player and on PC) the same problem: from beginning to end there are a lot of skips and freeze pictures in the movie. I tried different medias like verbatim, medion (who is the manufacturer?) and primeon (Ritek?!) always the same problem. I have an LG GSA-4040B with firmware 3.01. My board is an Asus with VIA chipset. Is it true that there are problems with this CloneDVD Version. Is it better to work with 1.2.8.4? If yes, where can I download this version? I hope everyone can help me asap. Thank you very much!

I've got the same drive 4040B and used to have the same problem. I wasn't sure what caused it I was running InCD as well but in the end I just reinstalled Windows and didn't install Blindwrite, InCD or anything else that may muck things up. Plain Nero 5 or 6 is fine. ALSO and this in itself may have been the answer I used the MS IDE drivers instead of the Busmastering drivers for my (Nvidia) motherboard. So my advice is : 1. Uninstall bus mastering IDE drivers. 2. Test, if not ok then: 3. Uninstall InCD 4. Test if not ok then: 5. Check ASPI for conflict with Nero Info tool, install latest ASPI from Nero ftp server (this should make no diff as CloneDVD doesn't use ASPI) 6. Test if not ok THEN... 7. Backup data and reinstall. Hope this helps, Fairy

I hope you get on ok. Personally I decided that backing up my data and reinstalling (with a reformat during install) was the best method (and that worked) however I realise that for most people that is the last thing that they want to do. Cheers, Fairy PS- I'd backup before following the steps laid out above, just in case. Do you know how to see what your IDE drivers are? (Device Manager)

If you find your movies skipping freezing alot..a few possibilities in addition to the ones above...dvd-rom may need to be replaced..burn at a slower speed...buy quality dvd-r or dvd+r's...i find that if you can inspect the media before buying you will usually get clean burns...you should always look for bubbles on the side of the media..if you can see any rough edges don't buy the media...i've NEVER gone wrong on my choices on my media by doin this..even got great deals sometimes with the really cheapo disks(0.44 a piece)...always buy from a reputable vendor PS.i always buy my media from computer shows so support your local shows when they come around

TommyGunn is right this is another possibility my tip is to check what the recommended media for your DVD drive is and get something on the list. A search of the internet or check of your BIOS readme should tell you what to use. A friend of mine is swapping his disks with me because he was having problems like you with his Pioneer.106/107. I have an LG 4040B and it gets on best with Ritek disks, for example the clonedisk ones from www.dvd-and-meida.com are very good and quite cheep. I agree disks with dodgy edges or traces of dry glu on the edge are usually rotten but the most important point is to match your media with your recorder. This and the Nvidia driver stuff should give you 100% success rate. Fairy
