CloneDVD error: Clone1 TCE Error

Hi guys,

The error CloneDVD1 TCE Error happened a couple of times and now it is constant when trying to backup my CSI Season 3 discs. It always happens at the same place (67% copying). The disc is brand new, no scratches, no dust. The same happens trying to read from another drive.

I've tried DVDSrink and had an error at the end of the disk. Tried DVD Decripter and could read the whole disk but when CloneDVD processed the files from the HD, found an error at the same position however DVDDecripter did not detected any errors! This happens with disc 1 and disc 2. Haven't tried disc 3...

I also went back to v 2.6.2.3, no use. Re installed 2.7.5.1. Is it a mastering error? AnyDVD is the latest.

Any suggestions?

This is usually caused by AnyDVD using a bad CSS Key. Check if the episodes play correctly, if AnyDVD is enabled. Try to disable CSS Archive in AnyDVD settings. Compare the CSS Keys to those from DVDDecrypter. Send an AnyDVD logfile to SlySoft support. Thank you!

Re: CloneDVD error: Clone1 TCE Error

Hi again,

It looks like this set of DVDs have a strong CSS protection. I located which VOBs are causing the problem (vts_04_01 and 02) and AnyDVD does not displays any keys for Video_TS, 02,03,04 and 05.

I played with DVDDecripter settings to decode the CSS in several ways to no avail. When playing the offending VOBs in the PC they do not display nor play correctly. They play OK in my DVD player/TV.

DVDDecripter accuses an area as suspect but "decodes" the VOBs to the HD without errors. The same VOBs have the same error when played from the HD or the DVDs. Maybe a new CSS/Structure protection?

Re: CloneDVD error: Clone1 TCE Error

Have you tried a different drive?

I remember reading somewhere that some Panasonic (I think?) drives had some issues and it had to do with how the CSS keys were read and the region the drive was set to . . . don't quite remember and am too lazy to do a search.

Anyway, maybe try a different make/model drive to read the discs?

Yes, I tried.

I have a LG DVD player and a LiteOn 16 writer. I tried to read/decode from both drives, the same. After decoding to HD, the same problem reading... I even tried DeCSS (dated 1999!). It says that there are no encription!

Please send an AnyDVD log to bugs(at)elby.ch, I am curious.
Please tell me exact infos about the title (name, country, region, UPC code).

Re: CloneDVD error: Clone1 TCE Error

Yes. I just bought CSI (Original) Season 1 on DVD. I wish to back it up, but on disc 1, with NO scratches, I get File 1 F:/VIDEO_TS/VTS_04_2.VOB 87 TCSectorReader. I can hit retry 1000x, but still nothing. It had ~16 seconds left to make the DVD Files. (99%) The DVD is in perfect condition. Any suggestions? Oh, I also tried switching the source drive (from which CloneDVD2 makes the DVD files.) Thanks! (BTW, my AnyDVD and CloneDVD are up-to-date!)

As I see from the logs, your drive does not match the region of the disc you want to read. AnyDVD must perform a brute force attack. Can you set the drive region correctly and try again?

Did you use default settings in AnyDVD?
What Region are your CSI discs? What Country? What Region is your drive set? (AnyDVD tray icon-> Show information)

I think I did write in the email all this but, here we go:
Discs region: 4
Country: Australia
Drive set: 4
AnyDVD is set correctly, I think, I'll check it tonight however, so far I've read and backed up DVDs from different regions, Region 1 and 4, without problems.

Hmm, this is really strange... AnyDVD does a brute force attack on matching regions. Are you sure about the region of your drive? Can you post the AnyDVD information window?

I thought so too... I've been using these two little gems, CloneDVD and AnyDVD for quite a while now and only had two or three ocurrences with TCE errors. I will check tonight (I'm at work mate! 11:30 am) and will post more details.

I think our other user above (Pippille) is confused. His problem is not the same as mine... Sorry...

Thank you! It really looks like a bug in AnyDVD, for some reason it cannot extract the CSS Keys with your drive. I will forward this to the guys at SlySoft.
You said DVDDecrypter failed as well, which puzzles me.
Are you using 3rd party IDE busmaster drivers?

Hi again,

Interesting... No, I'm using the original drivers that came with the motherboard (can't remember the brand right now). Slysoft suggested to experiment with a new version. I will do it tonight and let you know.

Cheers!

Hi again,

Well it looks like you guys solved the problem. The new version can read the CSS keys and read the whole DVDs OK. Congratulations!

Thanks for all the help...

Strange. I updated both AnyDVD and CloneDVD to the latest versions (beta) and it still doesn't work. Still stops at 99% and gives me that error. Oh, and I fixed the DVD-Region on my source drive, it still doesn't work. Summary for drive E:

Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (parallel)
