CloneDVD Discuss, CloneDVD 2.8.9.2. still has a few problems. at Copy Movie forum; I ran two different burners with three different media and get the same problem. The burns goes just find and after writing the buffers it freezes and won't eject, requiring a complete shutdown. The disc is fine. Switched back to 2.8.8.2. and all is fine again.

Switched back to 2.8.8.2. and all is fine again. Certainly possible that it is my hardware but it doesn't look like it. Any other ideas?

My first burns were OK as well. I would hate to think this is an intermitten bug again.

The only thing I have a problem with CloneDVD is burning with QSuite 2.1 and WOPC enabled. With it disabled the program works like a charm and it also works like a charm with all my other backup programs WOPC enabled or not. So I think this problem is with my configuration not Clone DVD, otherwise the proggy works great.

alan1476,
But you need QSuite 2.1 to use your BenQ for bitsetting, correct? That's not a good thing. What is WOPC and what does it do?

Just half way though backing up Band Of Brother (4 discs done) and no problems with CloneDVD2 here!

The bitsetting in QSuite 2.1 works great along with all the other features of the prggy with Clone2, but with Clone2 and only Clone2 when I enable WOPC I get a very bad jitter reading at about 3.5 gig and with it disabled the burn is perfect. This only happens with Clone 2 not my other backup proggys. It is not a big thing as WOPC does not have to be enabled and neither does solid burn when using good media and I only use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim media so it really does not affect me that much, it was just an observation.

Hi
You don't have to have QSuite installed for bitsetting. You can use Nero - CD/DVDSpeed - Quikees WOPC Tool. With ala42s' Enable SolidBurn via CD/DVDSpeed you can enable/disable SolidBurn. Although without QSuite you can't see a table for learned media. Also no QScan or TestWrite. I only install/run QSuite for either demo/simulation of fellow users problems. The rest of the time I use a combination of the above. Download QSuite manual from my sig for an very basic intro to the features (inc WOPC) available to the BenQ.

alan1476,
what is WOPC and what does it do?

zebadee,
Thanks, I'm sure many will find that informative, but I don't let anything "Nero" on my backup box. Thanks for the manual, I'll give it a read.

Re: CloneDVD 2.8.9.2. still has a few problems.

geez whisperer, always asking stupid questions, try google for once

it stands for Walking Optimal Power Control (calibration...not sure which) basically it means it continually adjusts the power calibration durning burning.

with high quality discs it's not really necessary and does add a few seconds onto the burning process, but it's a nice feature. it sort of checks to make sure it's writing correctly DURING the writing process as opposed to using the same power calibration the entire way through whether it's warranted or not.

I don't believe there is a new bug in 2.8.9.2, because there were no changes made to anything burning related.
However, I suspect the multimedia system, as CloneDVD will try to play the "I was successful" sound just before showing the "I am done" dialog.
Please try to disable the sounds in the preferences (just delete the strings), this might solve your problem.

Thanks for the reply. I will try what you suggest, there would seem to be something different as I have burned all day with 2.8.8.2. and cannot get the system to freeze. Any time I go back to 2.8.9.2. I get the system and drive freeze. I'll get back to you tomorrow. Probably gremlins, it wouldn't be the first time. At least the burns turn out fine.

Much appreciated.

Your suggestion solved the problem. Sometimes your knowledge is really spooky.

Thanks again.

Re: CloneDVD 2.8.9.2. still has a few problems.

There is a bug in the new version. I can't read any dvd's. They bring up blue screens of death or notify that Clonedvd has encountered an error and needs to shut down. The last dvd I was trying to read caused an error in microsoft that almost wiped out my whole system.

You should not be releasing these versions if they cause problems to peoples computers.

The problem is with your system, not CloneDVD2....

DO NOT take that tone with anyone on this forum. we voluntarily spend our time here to try to help others. none of us are affiliated with CloneDvd and therefore do not have the power to "fix it or give you your money back"

it would behoove you to curtail the attitude and provide some more information about your problem in case anyone will be nice enough to help you after your outburst.

Since you haven't provided any information about your problem, we can't help you. We are, however, intelligent enough to be able to surmise that your BSOD errors are NOT a result of CloneDvd and indicate that there is something seriously wrong with your system.

I guess after 2 posts and reading this thread you have decieded that CloneDVD2 which works fine for everybody for years is causing your computer to crash. Maybe you should look into your configuration and software conflicts before making such a rash statement. And by the way you would fair better asking for your money back to the people that you bought it from, not here.

I spose you could fix your problem by removing CloneDVD, since you're convinced it's causing your system so much grief.

Prove that the BSOD are not the result of CloneDvd. I have seen other posters on this forum who complain of the same problem.
