| Clone Dvd Update Hi All, Thanks for all your replies to my orignal message regarding speed problems with clone DVD, I have installed the Nero Info Tool as requested and i think i have posted the correct info. Here is the orignal message and please find the results from Nero at the bottom of the page, again any help would be appreciated, after hearing that it should take around 30 minutes and mine is taking around 3 hours... i think i have a problem somewhere..... Hi All, Im new to this, so please be patient.... Ive been using CloneDVD and AnyDVD for ages now.... Now problems atal and im always very happy with the results... One thing that has been getting on my nerves recently is the amount of time it takes to complete the DVD. It takes form start to finish around 3 hours to complete a DVD, thats about 1.5 hours to do the first part, then about 1.5 hours to actually write or burn it, whatever you call it. My PC isnt that old, and is a Intel Pentium 1.6 GHz, with 256 RAM. My burner is a Freecom external USB, bought from Argos, I thought it was pretty good as it will do Dual Layer and - and + dvd r's. There are 2 things that i can think what the problem might be but i would really appreciate any help and advise..... 1) The DVD burner can be plugged into a USB2.0 port, which i DO NOT have. When i plug it in to my normal USB1.0 port, i do get a message saying that this device will perform quicker if connected to a USB2.0 port. So, i guess that could be the reason ? 2) Someone said to me something about the DMA or something ???? They said that their films used to take hours to do, then he changed something with the DMA or soemthing and now they only take him about 40 mins or something ??? I found out a little about the DMA thing and I have checked in Device Manager but i THINK my devices are setup correct. So, Can anybody give me any advise, How long do you films take to copy ? Many Thanks Mark Hedges Here is the Nero Info, Please let me know if you need any more info. | Re: Clone Dvd Update linconhawk, I see a few thing you can improve upon. Assuming your running XP the 256 ram is the minimum you should run it at, get yourself another 256 stick. The external burner should be on a USB2 connection, they sell inexpensive PCI cards that will give you several USB2 ports. Also go to the below tutorial regarding DMA, 3 hours to burn does sound like a DMA issue. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616 |

| Re: Clone Dvd Update You will not believe how fast you can burn once you realize you Must Have USB 2.0. for your USB burner's optimal performance. My external USB 2.0 burner, connected to a 2.0 port, takes me approx. 12 mins. to burn a 100 min. movie backup at 4x. Regards, ![]()
