| Clone DVD copy won't play in new home deck... Subject: simple copy by Clone DVD won't play on new home dvd player I’ve had Clone CD for years and it’s been great. Got Clone DVD so I could easily copy home made DVDs. Simple, no encryption or copy protection, etc. The copies work fine in a PC but will not play in a dvd home deck (tried in the newest DVD players). For kicks I made a dvd+r copy of a 2 minute dvd+r using Roxio CD Creator 5 and the copy worked fine. I e-mailed Elaborate about it and: Elaborate Bytes Team responded that this copying is not supported????? Clone DVD should make a copy that will play on a home DVD Player (especially when an old Roxio program can do it) Any ideas? Thanks Long version and response from Elaborate Bytes Team: I made a dvd from my mini dv camcorder onto a dvd+r. it plays fine in my pc and other pc's and my sony home dvd deck slv-d500P ( a very new deck). When I make a copy of my dvd using Clone DVD it plays fine in the pc but will Not play in the sony home deck. It just says "loading" for a long time and gives some message about putting in a usable disc. I tried making a copy of the original DVD using Roxio cd creator 5 and the copy works normal in the sony home deck and the pc. Any suggestions why the copy by clone dvd would not work but the copy by roxio would? I also found this information: Used space shows 183,924,736 on the original disc Used space shows 183,924,736 on the roxio cd creator 5 disc Used space shows 78,858,240 on the clone dvd disc Vts_01_1.vob file on original disc: 78,249,984 bytes Vts_01_1.vob file on disc copy by roxio 5: 78,249,984 bytes Vts_01_1.vob file on Clone DVD Disc: 78,372,864 bytes Why would my copies made with roxio cd creator 5 be exactly the same file sizes and disk used size as the original and play fine in the sony dvd deck but the clone dvd copy has a different VTS_01_1.vob file size and a much, much different "disk used" size" and it does not play in the sony dvd deck This is just a simple 2 minute home movie dvd Quote:

| The answer Elby gave you is correct >so I could easily copy home made DVDs ...these are probably not ISO/UDF bridged format or even in any sort of DVD-Video format. Unless you have an .IFO/.BUP/VTS compilation, it aint gonna work in CloneDVD. You can copy your home-mades in Nero Burning ROM ![]()

| here's the screen shots Thanks for the reply. Both the original disc and the clonedvd and roxio copy have AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. the AUDIO_TS folder is empty in both. Is the original structure not common dvd? The VIDEO_TS for each is: Original DVD VIDEO_TS folder: The clonedvd VIDEO_TS folder is: The original dvd properties: The clonedvd properties: I still don't follow why clone dvd could not produce a "clone" of this dvd, esp why the used disc numbers are so far apart. Maybe the program name doesn't reflect it's abilities accurately. I was spoiled by how well clone cd worked - it even made a working backup of the navigation cd in my bmw when no other program would. I'll try nero, thx for the tip. (edited to show Audio_ts and Video_ts in uppercase) Last edited by mrvnsu; 29-01-2004 at 05:14. |

| >All fixed CloneDVD works? If it were only so. no, I fixed the lower case to upper case and edited my prior post. fyi, that vipersig you have was developed a few months by a Dodge Viper guy in our group. gets him lots of "fan" mail from people that get uptight about it. His "fun" site is www.viperalley.com and he goes by packetjunkie there |

| I have no idea, why CloneDVD's copy doesn't work. How did you create the copy? Did you 1.) Use second "Use-Case" "CloneDVD" or 2.) Use third case "Write existing Data" Whatever you did, could you try the other case? Thank you!
