Re: Cannot reburn an existing copy...

LOL I would but the original is damaged (KIDS) Thats why I made a copy, But my kids took the original so I'm left with the backup. That still doesn't fix the problem too. But thanks for trying...

Re: Cannot reburn an existing copy...

@ Davidstjohn3,

Perchance when you are attempting to re-copy your back up copy do you have AnyDVD running? If so disable AnyDVD because it is not needed because all copy prtotection have already been removed in the back copy.

Most reasons folks cannot re-copy a back up copy is because the back up copy contains errors. Suggest using Nero CD-DVD Speed (http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroCDSpeed_408.zip) and check your back up copy for errors by running a ScanDisc surface scan. A correctly recorded back up copy should not contain any errors. If Nero CD-DVD Speed reveals errors these errors are most likely the reason you are unable to re-record your back up copy. Just because a back up copy plays in some DVD playback devices does not mean the back up copy is error free. Most errors are caused by the use of poor quality DVD media.

Best Regards,
bjkg

Re: Cannot reburn an existing copy...

@Davidstjohn3,
You can also try this method. AS bjkg mentioned, disable AnyDVD, clean the disk throughly, then using Windows Explorer, drag the Video_Ts folder from the burned DVD to a folder of your choice. If Explorer comes up with an error message you can rest assured there is a problem reading that disk and I doubt you will ever be able to copy it.

If Explorer copies the folder successfully, then open CloneDVD and select the third button, write existing data, now navigate to the folder you copied the files to and select it. Insert quality media, no junk please, if it begins to burn, I think you're home free.

If you're unsure about quality media, visit the CD freaks Media forum and get some insight about quality media.

Re: Cannot reburn an existing copy...

You could also try copying the disk with imgburn (dvddecrypter)

http://www.imgburn.com/

I've found that some scratched disks that I could not copy with DVDshrink could be ripped to the hard disk first with imgburn (same optical drive).

Re: Cannot reburn an existing copy...

I have to ask, was this copy on a DVD+DL? Only asking as it says it can not find the location of the layer break. If it is on a DL disc the chances are it may have read errors on it.

If this is the case (as suggested previously scan with Nero or as you have a Lite-on with K-Probe to confirm) remember CloneDVD2 was not designed to copy knackered discs. You could give CloneCD a try or DVDDecryper with the read retries set to a high number.

At the end of the day, if the disc is really badly scratched or full of read errors nothing with help you (maybe ISOBuster or Bad Copy Pro might get it....) You could have some fun trying to polish out the scratches as a last resort!!!!

Doesn't imgburn only have the DVDDecrypter burn engine? I thought it needed something else create the ISO?

Re: Cannot reburn an existing copy...

OK I burned it to a dvd-r originally. And no I didn't use a dvd dual layer either. I just finished copying it to my desktop by way of copy and paste from the disk. It worked fine. Then i burned it to a dvd+r. It burned perfectly. Then I tried to rip it to my hard drive from the newly burned dvd+r and I got the same error. I just dont understand why this is doing this? Also i reinstalled clone dvd to see if it was the software but same thing ERROR.

Re: Cannot reburn an existing copy...

@ Davidstjohn3,

Please re-read my posting #4 in this thread and note information contained in paragraph #2. Perchance using Nero CD-DVD Speed have you ensured that this back up copy does not contains any errors?

Re: Cannot reburn an existing copy...

I did use the error checking software nero had and it had about errors average. I thought that was bad so I borrowed a copy of the movie from a freind d copied it and copied it a second time and no problem now and I used clonedvd 2.8.5.1 and anydvd 5.5.1.1 works great...
