I dont think CloneDVD has the option to change the booktype of your backups - I have yet to find that option in there

My burner does, however, come with a utility to change the booktype - I simply use that

Re: BookType Setting?

clonedvd does not have booktype setting.

also, booktypes are not "copied from the original." That's impossible. If your drive supports booktyping and you don't set booktyping with a drive utility or by another means your DVD-R will come out -R, your DVD+R will come out +R and your DVD+R DL will come out DVD +R DL. This is not good if you have an older standalone player as most will not play +R formats.

bitsetting has nothing to do with the original disc and everything to do with the media to which you're copying.

if your drive does not support bitsetting (or you can't figure out how to turn it on), it's recommended to use DVD-R discs for wider compatibility.

Re: BookType Setting?

If this is a problem to you & your burner supports bit-setting but not on a permanent basis , eg LG, then the solution would be to create an image file in Clone & then burn the image with ImgBurn which does have built in Book Typing.

If you tell us specifically what dvd burner you have, I expect someone in the forum will be able to tell you how to proceed to accomplish booktype setting with your drive, if it supports bitsetting.
I do not believe it is possible to modify the booktype setting when burning dvd-r media. I believe booktype is hard coded on dvd-r media.

Re: BookType Setting?

Do you have the DVDInfoPro program? If so, it will allow you to change the booktype bitsetting on DVD +R type disks if your drive allows it. You can get a copy of the program at www.dvdinfopro.com. They have a free version or you can purchase the program for $20.
