Big bug in CloneDVD (i think...) Here's wath i've done: Created a DVD compilation using DVD-Lab (puted 3 SVCD movies on dvd), but i've created the dvd compilation a little too big. Used CloneDVD to burn the dvd compilation, started to burn, it write a few data on the dvd and AFTER writed a little on the DVD, CloneDVD complaint that the dvd was too big, and the result was a coaster. Isn't this a big bug? Shouldn't CloneDVD verify the movie BEFORE it writes anything on the dvd? BTW: i then choosed the copy dvd titles option, CloneDVD recompreesed the movie and then burned fine.

Tip: Always transcode to a separate folder on the hard drive. Then, if the files are too big it will be immediately obvious and you will not have wasted a disc. Once you've satisfied yourself that the files are the right size, then do the burning. I'm not sure whether CloneDVD checks the sizes of files that it has not itself created. Not all burning applications do. I always use Gear Pro and that checks every finite thing(!). I believe Nero also carries out a sensibility check, although too many people report problems with Nero to tempt me to use it. -Pete

Thks for the tip. CloneDVD did the size cheking, but only after writed some data to the DVD (+- 100Mb), so that's why i think it's a bug(?). Anyway, i think i will always choose the Copy DVD titles option, i think it's safer... CloneDVD 2 is on it's way, let's hope it will be better in this matter ![]()

| > and the result was a coaster.< That's odd. Have you tried to use it again? It should work. At least, we planned it this way. What writer did you use? What medium type (-R/+R)?

I don't think it's a media problem, because, like i said, CloneDVD wrote about 100Mb on the dvd and then said the dvd compilation was too big to fit on the dvd. The result was a coaster because the dvd didn't had all the data written, only those 100Mb. I said it was big bug in CloneDVD because only AFTER writed those 100Mb, it then complaint about the dvd compilation being too big, and stoped writting. I think before writting anything on the dvd, the size cheking should have been done. Edit: edited to say that i know that PRINCO sucks , but that's all i have here for now. Here in Portugal it's hard to find good and cheap media, PRINCO is what selling more here and is the cheapest.
