CloneDVD Discuss, Beware Planet of the apes at Copy Movie forum; CloneDVD always picks the largest series of VOBs (most chapters / longest time) for the main movie, on Planet of the Apes (EAN 5 039036 008167 2 disc special edition) there are two large movie streams, unfortunately the largest (by 14 seconds and numbered track 02) is the directors comments overlay

Beware Planet of the apes

CloneDVD always picks the largest series of VOBs (most chapters / longest time) for the main movie,

on Planet of the Apes (EAN 5 039036 008167 2 disc special edition) there are two large movie streams, unfortunately the largest (by 14 seconds and numbered track 02) is the directors comments overlay of the movie,

so keep your eye out for this happening on other movies,

also it crashes PowerDVD when playing,

hi there

this happens with independance day for me it has nothing to do with clone dvd the problem is with any dvd...try to disable any dvd when you are playing your movie...when u want to back it up insert the dvd and just start clone dvd no need to play movie first,,,then when u finish reading it burn it then when u play back your copy disable anydvd first,,,this has worked for me.

by the way when your copy was made did it work in your home dvd player,,,my independance day worked flawlessly..on my home dvd player..its only on the computer i had to disable anydvd..hope it helps...

I only mentioned the crash in passing as I threw the disc in the bin anyway, the post was really about the fact that CloneDVD intelligently selected the wrong Movie Stream (because there is no audio on the preview screen it wasn't obvious until it was written) and to be wary of this,

(BTW the copy of the correct stream didn't crash)

CloneDVD and AnyDVD work almost perfectly on my machine, there is only the odd exception with films that are waiting for an update of CloneDVD (E.G. Crouching Tiger)

I also have an issue with Treasure Planet and my Toshiba DVD drive, it works on the JLMS drive and my writer but the back-up cannot be read on my Toshiba 1402, it also plays fine in my standalone, good job really as this is one film that needed to be backed-up due to the hammering it's getting, well at least Scooby Doo is getting a rest now *Phew*

I find with all films you copy 1 to 1 it helps not to be selective and tick all parameters on clonedvd then you cannot go wrong with the out come, so you end up copying film audio & directors comments audio go for it its all extras and clonedvd can compress it to fit on a DVD 5 anyway.
