Nero VCD burn, caching files failed

Hi, I want to burn a VCD in Nero. I've selected 15 AVI files, the VCD is well under capacity, all are transcoded but instead of burning I get an error message 'cache writing failed' and 'caching of files failed'. I've completed this process successfully before, but on this occasion I've obviously done something wrong. Any help?

You might want to flush all the temp files on your drive, run ERROR FIX, then do a DEFRAG and change the TEMP environment variables to a new location. Making sure that the new location has plenty of space for temp files. Might also want to check the Swap / Virtual Memory file to make sure it is large enough.

Thanks for that. Silly questions to follow. Where do I access Error Fix and change temp variables location? To flush temp files do I just delete them or is there a procedure for that too?

Re: Nero VCD burn, caching files failed

Error checking / fixing for a drive in XP can be accessed by entering My Computer, selecting the drive you wish to work on, right-clicking and choosing PROPERTIES, then the TOOLS tab. They have Error Checking and Defragmentation on their both.

To change your environmental variables, right-click on MY COMPUTER and select PROPERTIES. That should get you to the System Properties dialog. Go to the ADVANCED tab and at the bottom you should see a button for Environment Variables. For both TMP and TEMP you may want to change them. I have them set to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP so that they are not stored under the Documents and Settings folder. That way I don't have it all hogged up with temp files and such when I do backups.

Hope that helps.

Remember, in case you get stuck, Google can be your friend.
