Nero Backitup problem restoring. I recently did a back up of my documents and music using Nero 6.6 as I was planning to format C: my computer. I completed the back up then burned them onto a disc. I erased everything off my C: drive then reinstalled Nero. But when I try to restore the files I get the message. "The file" " is not available in the backup folder. Please select the parent of your backup folder." I can see my files are in the backup, but i can't restore them. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Re: Nero Backitup problem restoring. Possibly ... I had the same issue I managed to solve it myself when I realised that the drive where I originally did the backup had changed ( from B: to K: ) due to reinstall of Windows To fix it, in the dialog box that appears at start of the restore job, I specified the 'parent' folder on the new drive ( i.e., K: in my case ) and the restore worked perfectly! Good luck. Hope it helps!

Re: Nero Backitup problem restoring. Hi, Like the other poster I found out that in fact the program is legitimately "lost." It doesn't know where the files to back up are located. By simply directing it to various folders above where the files were located, it immediately resolved the problem. So when that dialogue comes up, try selecting the folder just above where the actual *.nco files are. If that doesn't work and the dialogue comes up again, select another folder, either up or down from the last. It took me a few folders, but eventually I was able to point it to the "parent" folder it was looking for. Once that happened, it zipped along and restored all files successfully! Awesome. Good luck with it!

Re: Nero Backitup problem restoring. nero is great software for backing up data, very reliable. BUT if you have to do restore of a bunch of files, then it can be tricky. I keep getting a "the file zlib.dll is not available in the backup folder. please select the parent of your back up folder" the zlib.dll was not the issue. It was a directory path issue when trying to restore the data to the correct path. Nero lets you choose a path to restore to, but it the process you get the error i mentioned above. This worked: If you recieve this error when restoring data to a directory, then create a file with the same name as the restore file and place it in the root of c then run nero and select that file you just created. If you still get the same error then keep selecting the files adove or below the file you just created and then for some freaking reason it starts to work. then be sure to not use older versions of back-up software that have bugs.
