Playing DVD in pc or standalone player...

Hi, I've got a LG DRD-8160B in my pc, and whenever I go to play a backupped DVD, (in this case it's a backup of We Were Soldiers on a DVD+R) it only spins up, does a bit of swishing (so technical, i know) and then spinsdown and the light goes off...

On the site it says that it can read : -

Supported disc Formats : DVD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-Video, CD-R/RW, Photo CD, CD Extra, CD-I, Video-CD, CD-ROM, CD-DA

Now I know DVD+R isn't on their, but doesn't DVD-ROM generalise DVD+R, DVD-R and such ?

The DVD's I try to play have been backed up by a new Sony burner.

Also I have a toshiba standalone player, that reads the disk, and it comes up with that thing from 321studios about it being a archival backup disk, but then it just hangs, and to actually get the disk out, I have to unplug it at the mains, and then back in quickly pressing the open button in the hope that it doesnt start to load it

Any idea's as to how I can fix/get around these problems?

Cheers.

Nope , DVD-ROM is a factory produced DVD (pressed) and not a written (burned) one.

Sorry mate
