not being read.

This is probably a stupid question, but for some reason DVDs will no longer play in both my DVD players in my PC. it does not detect anything. clicked on the drives and they show that nothing is in the drives. Please help, I know it's something easy to fix.

Re: not being read.

Can you give more details? Often this problem is due to a bad burned disc. What disc is it? Can you post mediacode? What brand are these discs?

At what speed you burned these discs? What burner do you have? What firmware?

Have you tried to read these discs in a different drive on a different computer? You can ask a friend to do a little test; in this way it's possible to exclude a drive problem.

Re: not being read.

I couldnt really answer any of those questions :S except one or two. the game cd is a cd-dvd, this problem is probably caused yb a badly burnt cd, as I watched a movie recently that was made by a friend. the thing is, the dvd drive started working again for a while, and now it isnt. it works on pretty much any other computer.

Re: not being read.

You can find mediacode of these discs using dvd identifier or cd-dvd speed. The brand is written on the box, and if specified, can you post also where these discs were made?

CD-DVD Speed shows you also informations about the burner and the firmware installed. At what speed did you burn these discs?

Moreover, can you explain better? When you say

what do you mean exactly? A CD is different from a DVD.

Re: not being read.

I didnt burn the disc, and what I mean when i say its a cd-dcd is that it says "cd-dvd rom" on the cd and cd case. its meant to work in the dvd drive and does nothing when in the cd drive. I'll do all that other stuff you asked me to do later and post it.

Sorry, still not clear: Is it a burned disc or a pressed one?

You cannot read a DVD in any CD player. You can howver read a Cd in a DVD player.
