is it my dvd player?

I was backing up one of my dvds w/ my new plextor 708a and i was having problems getting it to play back correctly on my dvd player.

Before I got a dvd burner i had tested it out w/ vcds.
The dvd player player played vcds just fine but was really jerky when playing svcds (jerky to the point it wasn't watchable). I could get svcds to work on the computer by using winDVD

when I put in one of the dvd+r backups it looked like it was playing the same way... all jerky and everything.

When I put the dvd+r in the computer and turn on winDVD it plays perfectly.

what gives? is it by dvd player? is the the type of media? should I switch to dvd-r? Does any one have any experience with this?

It is a Panasonic DVD-RV31

Here is a link to the product but it doesn't have much for information... perhaps because it's an older dvd player.
DVD-RV31K

if there is something specific that this dvd player doesn't do that I need to look for in my next dvd player let me know.

I had that model before the lens broke :@

That model doesnt play SVCDs, but it plays XVCDS... so in the future just encode vcds at a higher bitrate (the player reeads up to 2000 i believe)... and you should be fine...
