x:\ is not accessible, Incorrect function

i have a nec 4550a for two months and i'm pleased!! But, recently i started receiving errors on SOME dvds...

x:\ is not accessible, Incorrect function

the strange part it's that i can extract everything with isobuster or reading the sessions wuth nero without any kind of problem...

Only windows gives me that error...

but the strange part is this: one dvd that gives me that error won't give when a read it with a LG 4167b on a friends computer...
the same dvd tested in many notebooks worked always ok, but if i tried to read it with an external(usb) dvdrw Benq drive, on the same laptops gives the same error that my windows delivers...

i already reinstalled winxp, tried with winxp64... and even without any soft installed, continues to give that error...

does anybody have a clue?

PS: the dvds that i cant read have always 2 sessions and the last is empty...

Sorry for all this but it's so STRANGE...

Re: x:\ is not accessible, Incorrect function

Many (non-RW) drives have issues reading multisession discs with either open sessions, or open disc.

Many (non-RW) drives have issues reading multisession discs full stop.

Benq aren't the benchmark for reliable drives for anything

Re: x:\ is not accessible, Incorrect function

Exactly, Multisession especially on DVD is always a troublemaker, regardless if closed or not.
