| Will a PS2 console play 8.5gb double layer discs? The question is in the subject, can someone end a dispute between me and a friend on this subject... Me mate believes a Playstation 2 will play 8.5 GB Double Layer discs. I told him the PS2 only reads 4.5 Dual layer discs. Can someone please setlle the dispute. Cheers! |

DVD-5 = 4.37 computer GB called Single Sided Single Layered DVD-10 = 8.75 computer GB called Double Sided Single Layered DVD-9 = 7.95 computer GB called Single Sided Dual Layered DVD-18 = 15.9 computer GB called Double Sided Dual Layer 4.5 Dual layer discs do not exist in the way you are thinking

DVD 10 9.4GB DVD 9 8.5GB DVD 18 17GB It's usually marketed that way so easier to identify though they all mean the same things. It's going to be even more confusing with Blu-ray and HD-DVD. There are already several different sizes and layers even though there is no PC with a built-in Blu-ray or HD-DVD drive yet.
