| Widescreen LCD Advice Ok im after a widescreen LCD and another 1GB of ram so either another pair of what i already have or a 2GB set, i have around £300/$570 in total and im in the UK!! anyway ive been looking at this screen Quote:
![]() If i bought that or one around that price i could probably squeeze in a decent 2GB Ram set but if i bought this (see below) i'd have to buy another Ram set of what i have for around £90ish and i'd be over budget abit and also how would my single 7800GT fair at 1680x1050 in games?Quote:
![]() must have DVI port!, im not up on LCD screens so any advice is appreciated!!!

| Re: Widescreen LCD Advice Neither of these shine too much. Viewing angle on the first one could be better - u'd have to sit straight in front of it to see clear picture. Good ones go up to 178 degree each way. In the second one the angles are unnown and it is too slow for gaming (8ms). Viewsonics go up to 2ms grey-to grey. So I'd say buy a better display now and more RAM later, but that depends on your needs. Cheers. P.S. Im waiting for 24" Acer wide screen to drop in price. The specs are perfect and it doesnt have any gimmics like speakers. |

| Re: Widescreen LCD Advice With US$570, I would rather buy THREE (but used) 20.1-inch 1600*1200 or 1680*1050 LCD monitors of course all with both DVI and DSUB support. A typical 1600*1200 or 1680*1050 LCD here costs around US$250 but a used 20.1-inch costs a little under US$200. Why buy a used monitor? Because LCD monitors are evolving so fast that it's most of the times a bad investment to spend too much on a single monitor. A 2560*1600 30-inch LCD monitor was priced at like US$3,000 or more not too long ago but now I can get one for about US$700 and it's going to drop to like US$500 soon. Why are they so expensive in the UK? I mean even when reflecting the 17.5 percent VAT, the UK prices are still much higher than those in the US or in East Asia. For myself, it'd be great to have a graphic card that supports quadruple 2560*1600 monitor configuration! (One 2560*1600 monitor requires two DVI links.)
