| why does the PC freeze momentarily when you insert a disc? I'm not having any problems with burning discs, but I am noticing that my new 'super-duper' computer takes a lot longer to recognize blank discs than my old computer. And, as it's always done, the computer seems to freeze-up for a couple of seconds while it tries to recognize the new disc. My old computer was an Athlon XP with an NEC 2510 drive, Ubuntu 7.04 and Nero 2.1 (Linux). Inserting a blank disc only causes about 1.0 seconds freeze-up. My new machine is an Athlon X2 5600, NEC 3500, Ubuntu 7.04 and Nero 3.0.1.3. Inserting a blank disc cause about 3 seconds freeze-up. Has anyone ever figured-out what causes the delay in the first place, or what you can do to minimize it? |
