General Hardware Forum Discuss, upgrading soundcard? at International Chat: Hardware related forum; I have an audigy2zs, will upgrading it to an M audio Revolution 5.1 improve the sound quality by a noticeable level? I use a pair of Sennheiser HD555 headphones and use the card for music listening.

upgrading soundcard?

I think a good headphone amp would be a good upgrade. tube amp if you can afford it, Here's one

I didn't realize how old that audigy card was. M-audio would probably be a good upgrade. Also look at the M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496, the 5.1 revolution might be out of production.

First off what kinda sounds around going to play through the soundcard?? There is a newer version X-FI from the company that makes audigy2zs. Maybe you could take a look at that as well. What kinda improvement in sound are you looking for game or entertainment also what kinda speaker setup are you using????

XFI has crackling and popping issues. Also, it's not as good sounding as the M audio because it's intended for gaming.

I use the soundcard for music listening with headphones.

So which sound card do you have then the Audigy or XFI?? XFI isn't the audigy product.....
