| TS-L632M DVD drive won't read CDROMs I got a brand new HP8710w notebook with a Samsung TS-L632M DVD drive. The problem is I can only read DVDs, I can play DVD movies and read data discs, I can burn DVDs etc. BUT, it won't even recognise any kind of CDROM disc. I ran the HP recovery tool, it basically formats your harddrive and re-installs Vista Business 32. After that I could read a CD. But it failed again when I tried a different CD, and it has the same problem again. It won't read CDs. I don't think the drive is broken since I can read DVDs. And it did read a CD disc (only) once. I upgraded the notebook BIOS but it didn't solve the problem. And installed all updates for Vista and driver updates from HP. I tried to flash the DVD drive, but the tool from Samsung says my drive is not supported. I think I can only load firmware from HP - even though it is a Samsung drive. Any ideas? JM |
