TEAC W58E CD Writer - Club CDFreaks

Hi

One of my old burners is a TEAC W58E (8x8x32).

I was reading a review of a cd duplicator on another site and noticed the drive face plate was identical. The drive in the duplicator was a Sanyo model.

Does anybody here know which model Sanyo drive TEAC used for the W58E? The reason I ask is because TEAC have never provided the drive with any firmware upgrades and the drive is currently incapable of EFM correct recording. I'm hoping a firmware upgrade would help the capabilities out some.

I don't think the old Sanyo Chipset Burners did correct EFM encoding, if this is indeed a Sanyo Clone.
