| Shop4tech External Enclosure Greetings: In the process for a purchase of an External Hard Drive Enclosure. Wondering if anyone here had purchased this 3.5 inch USB 2.0 - Aluminum by SPIRE from Shop4tech (fournd here: http://www.shop4tech.com/item4424.html)? If so, what are your thought/experiences with the drive? Even if you didn't buy it form them, do you have any experiences with Spire's product? Any other recommendation would be much appreciated. Best, Techson |

| Re: Shop4tech External Enclosure Just make sure the connector that goes to the hard drive is not made really flimsy. I have bought 2 of these: USB 2.0 3.5 inch External Hard Drive Enclosure Manufacturer: CompUSA Mfg Part #: 070538 Product Number: 312100 $44.99 Protect this investment (learn how) Usually Ships In: 1 - 2 Business Days Estimate Arrival Time (Delivery / Pick-Up) Check Store Inventory: Print / E-Mail / Compare Product Information Service Plans Reviews Customer Rating Overall 2.2 Features 2.3 Performance 2.3 Price-Value 3 2 of 6 (33%) of customers said they would purchase this product again. Rate this product Read Reviews (Based on manufacturer's information) High Speed USB 2.0 Data Transfer Rates Backward Compatible with USB 1.1 Slim Profile Aluminum Housing for Maximum Heat Dissipation Power Down Mode and USB Suspend Indicator Hot Swappable Connection Note: Hard Drive Not Included Number of Drives Supported: 1 Device Width Supported: 3.5" In the Box: 3.5" External Enclosure USB Cable Power Adapter Stand Driver CD User's Manual Limited Warranty: 3 Months (90 days) And let me tell you, what a pile of garbage. The connectors will fail at some point because of the way they are put together. They are not soddered. So watch what you buy. I had no problems with overheating, it would just simply stop working because the connectors did not have a solid grasp. Food for thought. |
