General Hardware Forum Discuss, Samsung 52x cd drive...worth it?? at International Chat: Hardware related forum; well i am in the market for a new cdrom drive...my Affrey 56x drive is shot due to a cd exploding in the unit last night... the Affrey 56x cd drive read my SD2.8 backups with ease just wanted any opinions about the Samsung drive or any others

Samsung 52x cd drive...worth it??

well i am in the market for a new cdrom drive...my Affrey 56x drive is shot due to a cd exploding in the unit last night...

the Affrey 56x cd drive read my SD2.8 backups with ease

just wanted any opinions about the Samsung drive or any others that are a guarnatee to read SD2.8 backups

Why don't you buy a DVD-ROM drive? It also reads CD's. I would advise you to buy the JLMS (aka LiteOn) XJ-HD166S or the LiteON 52x CD-ROM drive. Samsung drives are not that good.

thaks for the reponse i do own a LTD-163d liteON dvd drive...i just want a variety of drives that would compliment each other..on playing certain bakups...might go with an LG 52x now!!!

If you don't mind to have a noisy drive, get the Asus 52x CD-ROM drive. If you want a good and cheap drive try to buy the LiteOn 52x drive.
