According to Samsung, their 2004 revenue was 57 trillion Won or about 55 billion USDs. Samsung's goal in 5 years is 120 billion yearly revenue (world's sixth to third.) Half of total sales should come from semiconductors and especially from NAND flash though DRAM currently accounts for most of Samsung's semiconductor business. On the first day of 2005 Analyst Day, Samsung announced 8-megapixel camera phone, DMB phone that can receive from either ground or satellite, 3GB HDD phone, etc. Though I downloaded all 11 or so PDF files hosted on sec.co.kr related to the event, total size was a bit over 130MB, still 58MB when heavily compressed (all in English, it seems, maybe over 1,000 pages) so I can't link them here because it's 4 AM in South Korea now, my own ftp being unavailable to me. Samsung's long-term strategy in storage field is clear on that PDF, too. 0.85-inch HDDs and 2.5-inch HDDs. Next-generation DVD meaning Blu-ray, HD-DVD, and beyond, and converging them all in one.
