The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. Re: Platinumsword's New Build

Thanks Guys and Gals.

Now all I have to do is decide on which Blu-ray burner to get.

Well the three temp sensors on my board run at about 36.0 C.
The core processor runs at 47.8 C
The video card runs at 52.0 C

I installed Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and cranked it up a bit and my core temp came up to 54.7 C. So I am looking alternative measures to make sure that I keep that core temp below 60.0 C.

Some thoughts on improving cooling....
First I would make sure that I had good overall air exchange in the case.
Then I would look at a way to get fresh, outside air isolated on that processor which usually means ducting.

Looking at the side fan array, perhaps the upper right fan aligns best with the CPU. If that fan could be ducted straight to the CPU to feed the HSF with fresh air, your temps may come down.
I am not a fan of filters, so I would not have one in a CPU duct system.
One could fashion something temporary out of cardboard to see if it would work before investing in components.

Basic side duct :

To scavenge cool air from the front of the case I have used this :

I've used these also but they may not necessary in this case :

Re: Platinumsword's New Build

There is no problem with the air exchange in the case. It's been optimized and as you can tell this case has no issues with ventilation.

Yes ducting was one of the options that I was considering. There are a couple of other options available but they are high maintenance and I don't know if I want to get that extreme.

I also purchase one of these and I think they are a good thing to have especially if you drop a few bucks.

Max temp for that CPU is supposed to be 61C.

Ya, they sure don't give you much leeway considering the stock cooler will hold CPU at about 52.0 C .
